looks like the fins are either aluminum. aluminum is relatively corrosion free because it forms a thin protective film (imo, aluminum oxide) just make sure you don't use anything acidic (or basic) so it doesn't react with the aluminum oxide. for the other parts (e.g. visible parts of the heatpipes and base, you can use a dampened rag). i've tried the water-faucet + finger + soap way with aluminum-finned heatsinks and always get satisfactory results...Originally Posted by IT
