I think the sinulog foundation will request you to surrender your memory card for verification purposes only, then it will be retured to you after..

- unsay i verify nila? nga ako jud ang nag shoot sa 10 photos?

- what if I have transferred my files to my PC already 'coz napuno ako memory card pag last sunday? sugot na cla CD? or kelangan nako ibalik ang mga good shots sa ako memory just so they can see that it is in my memory card?

- naa pud d i cla card reader para sa akong SDHC if they want to see my memory card?

- and also viewer for .NEF RAW?

... dont put off your desire to shoot during the sinulog and join the contest because you only have a point and shoot camera. what is important are the images you capture and if you think it has the potential... go ahead and submit it for the competition ... i am using dslr and have the big guns (lenses) with it but my point and shoot that i carry around also takes amazing images. best of all, the P&S camera has less buttons to worry about and what you do is just Point and Shoot hehehe.

Maybe Sinulog foundation doesn't mind minor tweaks. As edwin_sn said, I guess what they really meant was not to overdo it. I've even seen a winning entry that had it's background edited/blurred to emphasize detail on the subject but it won the contest anyway. The judges' decision was always final. I guess they've overlooked it or just don't care. I don't know if they used the same rules the previous years. It would not have been obvious had the photographer blurred all of the background. A small part of the background was left unblurred. He must have forgotten. I don't know of a camera either that does blurring at one part of the background then unblur at another part of the same background.

since ive joined sinulog contest some years ago...kaluoy sa dyos ive placed every year since...
and you know one thing i can proudly say, each photo ive submitted in that contest are UNEDITED...
no bluring of backgrounds erasing elements adding elements dodge and burn selective lighting modification etc.
sure many have won with editing...they got away with it...i dont care...
what i do care about is i hold true to myself and follow the rules...thats my way...

some issues over the years have been raise with regards to clear violation of the rules yet winning in the contest.
ive heard arguments that they did edit but can you tell whats edited?
some i can say aboslutely yes...some i can say no (its beautifully done)...
have you seen the brochure sa sinulog karon, back cover...that won and thats clearly staged setup and ive heard so many complaints bout it...
i say stop it already, stop thinking too much of it...
bottomline, to each his own...be happy with your work

lets do our thing as photographers...let the judges and committee do their thing...

bitaw sak2 si mark, one thing i learned from sir benjie is that the judges wouldnt know if edited ba siya or dile, the only thing that they know is that, kanang photograph is nice and the other one isn't.

sa abellana naa sa front sa stage. kanang pula nga rubberized nga oval nga dagan daganan sa mga joggers anha ka if u wanna go to abellana. others would also scatter didto sa route, sa mga kadalanan. dili naka mag suot suot sa mga tawo kay adto man ka subay sa area sa mga dancers. so pwede ka maka duol sa mga dancers etc etc nga dili ka badlungon because you have your ID nga gimarkahan ug PHOTO/VIDEO CONTEST.
