The word "KamaSutra" basically means the Aprohism of Love. lol mao ra ni akong maremeber sa whole report nako sa college.

If you want to read the book, look for the book by Vatsayayana ?? He's book was considered to the most comprehensive one.

I got hold a condensed copy in college before, the one-and-only copy sa UP Cebu library and as someone said here, it concentrated more on history and different reason for each position ( not all ). It was so condensed to the point of being boring hehehee..

Now for the movie, there were 2. The first one was a story of forbidden love, of friendship between the 2 female lead character maya and tara..
the 2nd one, was about an acolyte sent to the home a courtesan to record all their position , I think they tried to show how the book was made

I think most people also do it simply for its convenience. Also, in this age of DIYs (do-it-yourself) and Self-Service, what could be more safe than having to do it ALONE than with someone you hardly know
