Difference bet. 1 switch compared to 2 switches

Gud day mga bro ug sis, ask lng unta ko kung naa ba difference kung mogamit ka ug 1 siwtch or 2 ka switch in 1 router. Ex., I have 20 units of pc then naa ko router. naa ba difference sa speed kung ilahi nko ang 10 units ug swith sa 1 lng ka swithch tanan? TIA

Depende sa gamit. If you are only browsing internet through the router, the 2 switch solution is good enough. The bandwidth of 100Mbps is on 1 switch for 9 PCs link is more than enough.

But if you are using it to connect to a LAN server for file access or SQL transaction, better to have 1 big switch. This is because on a 2-switch system, all the PC on the 2nd switch connecting to the server in the 1st switch will use and share only 1 line, thus makes data transfer slow.

Dili mo matter, a normal DSL can hardly reach 1Mbps while a single switch line can handle 100Mbps (1000Mbps on high-end ones), so you need 100 connections/computers on the separate switch to have a bandwidth bottleneck on the line.

Do the math. 1Gbps = 10 x 100Mbps. That is only 10 simultaneous connections passing to your single 1Gbps uplink line.
The uplink port is used to connect the switch to the server.
