Freebass - the brainchild of bassists Peter Hook, Andy
Rourke and Mani - are set to make a spectacular live
debut next month.
And according to reports in The Sun, the Mancunian
supergroup is to be fronted by Oasis singer Liam
Gallagher and former Stone Roses vocalist Ian Brown.
Freebass - you see what they did with the name there?
- has long been talked about but will finally play
live at the Manchester V Cancer concert at the MEN
Arena on February 23. Other acts joing the bill
include The Verve, Inspiral Carpets, James and Happy
Mondays.
The trio of bassists have been working on their debut
album for the last year and will see vocal
contributions from Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie and
Charlatan Tim Burgess.
Rumours are already circulating that Freebass will hit
the festival circuit this summer.
Speaking of the Manchester V Cancer event, former
Smiths bassist and organiser Andy Rourke said:
“This year’s gig is going to be talked about for years
to come.
“We’ve got some of the biggest bands of the moment
lined up as well as some legendary acts.”
Ticket details are unavailable as yet but we'll let
you know just as soon we hear of them.
