Only experienced 1 case of mem card problem with 2gb fake sony card that i bought in SM. Bad timing.
The other class A fake sony mem cards (1gb to 4gb) i bought are ALL OK. Tried those in games that occupy more than 1GB space, multiplayer games using WLAN (infra and ad-hoc), watched movies, played MP3s. No problemo. Even used a fake card for downgrade/upgrade/unbrick service before the pandora era.
I think you will experience hang-ups when the card or your PSP is defective, the game you're playing has bugs, or if you have unreliable internet connection when playing multiplayer games using infra.
i do plans to buy magicgate-supported memory stick duo, pero dili pa karon kay wala pa ko budget....
anyway, mas nindot man jud ang original nga memory sticks...
Hi again guys... salamat kaau ninyong tanan for all the help and tips, guba jud diay to ang memory stick that's why it was causing problems... I had it changed na sa Circuit City the other day, and so far so good... ok na cya
Since ok na cya, I think I'll keep using this lang sa... like edgeknife, nahan sad ko og magicgate supported and original jud unta.. pero la pa sad ko budget ron
But anyway, I really learned a lot from this thread, thank u again!![]()
thats good to know na na ilisdan nimu...try lang to see from time to time with lunch's topics in the bstc section for his lexars kai magicgate supported jd na sila, 4G at a reasonable price...
swerte na kaayo to nako naka singit pako sa nagpa reserve sa kanya..hehehe
ok now this is getting more interesting!![]()
funny how much emphasis you put in "coz it has magicgate supported" but really now, who here actually uses magicgate security encryption? do you even know what magicgate is and how it works? BTW, this is a PSP memory stick thread right...so what does MAGICGATE actually do for GAMERS?! what are its advantages for gamers? NOTHING!
first of all i have nothing against original card...in fact i highly recommend them.
hey i sell all original cards except for the duo don't i?
however i have my reasons why i stop supporting duo originals.
1) super expensive cost many times more than what i sell thats already very high quality and better warranty support. most cant afford it original...many times they cost more than the device itself.
2) distributors support isnt as good as i want it to be. better pa ang source nako sa current duo cards im selling.
coz dugay kaayo mu ilis ang distributor. daghan pa kaayo kuti. many times before di gyud ko mailisan coz of some technicality including that the item works on their device thus is not replaceable (crazy!) even though it doesnt work 100% on many device its suppose to work with coz its defective!
3) always no stock on the capacity that sells
what good is magicgate? corporate music...
who here actually uses it?? i bet nobody...
who here buys music from sony onlineunlikely...
oh and i hear its being phased out by march 2008 if im not mistaken
besides when was the last time you use SECURITY encryption on your memory cards...i remember SD...never!
ive been using SD cards as small as 4mb...that was a loooooong time ago. until this day ive never found the need to use its security feature.
for me thats more things to go wrong...that limits your access to the card!
magicgate restricts ability to backup files to PC, other devices, or other sticks.
you would need magicgate enabled devices and reader/writer equipment to make use of them anyways. most cardreaders ARE NOT magicgate encryption security capable anyways. none of the S.E. phones are magicgate capable.
simple is often times better. potential problems are bout to happen with more complexity.
if you store music on duo as encrypted. sure your psp can play it. but what if you want to use that on ur S.E. phone...sorry no luck!
As far as it goes to the end-user, there is NO BENEFIT to MagicGate technology.
NOTE:
MagicGate does not guarantee compatibility with other products bearing MagicGate trademark[br]Posted on: December 29, 2007, 05:01:43 PM_________________________________________________a friend use to joke about it...

btaw i agree with mark, my 2gb has lasted this long, i never did undertstand magic gate support, LOL, i bet nobody does and people talk like they know so much about it and how important it is whaehhehe
LOL @ 4mb SD card! xD
it is true that the real purpose of magic gate will be useless for gamers sa psp however, it was just fortunate enough that the psp was one of the devices made by sony that can recognize the magicgate feature. for the psp, this feature was not used for copy protection rather for verifications.
so in short, it helps buyers of memory sticks identify whether their sticks are the real deal or not. reality-wise all memory sticks will eventually get corrupted at some point due to loading/erasing however, we cant avoid the reports these days that class A sticks tend to get corrupted more quickly compared to its original counterparts.
and theres really nothing magical about magicgate..only that it was placed there by sony, sandisk, and lexar to comply that these MS passed through their QC. and that they can be confident to say that the "magicgate" imprinted on each sticks are really there and not just for some kicks or whatnot...
im not saying that i wont used class A types in fact, i have 2 2G and 2 4G aside from my original 1G (sony) , 2G (san disk) and 4G (lexar).
also, it is really up to the buyers if they go for class A or original depending on their budget na jd.
but for me i would generally advise buyers to look for original ones thru the MG support which can be viewed through the psp (also demonstrated by cebutech a few posts before).
imho, most psp gamers would support this test since most gamers do rely on the abilities of their MS to work well for them and not give them any headaches.
wow this is gettin hot hahahahaha
I agree. There's alot of fuzz about "magicgate supported". It's basically for verification of the card (PSP). It's nice to know the kind of memory stick you're using on your PSP. (whether it is an original or a class A) :mrgreen:Originally Posted by ashleyriot
