Of all time, my favorite Tagalog guitarist is Wally Gonzalez, and everything he did was awesome, especially Wally's Blues. I also dig the stuff of Razorback, and of course, my all time favorite Pinoy band, The Dawn. I love Teddy Diaz's work on Enveloped Ideas especially - very iconic and yet simple.
In Cebu, my all-time favorite guitarist is John John Castaneda, who's done work with The Clan here in Cebu, and a host of session work in Manila. His best work, in my opinion, is one he did in house, which he recorded on a karaoke machine and gave to his nephew, who is my drummer. it's just him back himself up on rhythm, playing an instrumental doulbe guitar version of JUST THE TWO OF US which is just amazing. And it's on a freakin' karaoke machine.
Aside from him, I dig ever single solo that Jaan Quijano does. He's just a natural, whose style reminds me of the great glam bands like Warrant and Skid Row. Nobody in Cebu can play like him right now. No one comes even close to his level in terms to stuff like that. Not even guys from Manila.
