why everytime naa fight sa BOXING or MMA ang tawag sa mga cebuano kay DUWA or DULA? dli man cguro duwa or dula.. away man cguro..

Why is it called a "sport" rather than a "fight"?

**It is sanctioned by rules and the fighters or players safety is still of great and utmost concern.

**Fighters or players don't hold grudges against each other, thus what happens inside the ring, stays inside the ring. After the match, friends gihapon.

**The aim of such events is not to hurt each other but to look for the better fighter or player.

I was there brod, and as a Referee also in fights like the MMA and an OFFICIAL of that particular EVENT. it was the REFEREES call, we describe that as REFEREES DISCRETION to stop or to reset the fight...now it was an issue that night, the concerned coach/instructor filed a protest thru writing and addressed his protest to one of the JUDGES, Mr. Mark Yap for that matter also a MARTIAL ARTIST, a TATKOONTO specialist.

as one of the officials for that night with Master Ekin Caniga Jr. and Mr. Rommel Villamor the Chief Instructor of YAW-YAN ArDigma Cebu Chapter and I went to the dressing room of the concerned team and explained what had transpired. and with due respect to the team they were also very accomodating to our explanation and they understood our side and our explanation without any hesitation.

ACTION :

hours before the fight started, we had a FINAL BRIEFING. to all the fighters and instructors, we discussed to them the R&R of the sport and we explained to them how we gonna do the officiating.

- one of which is when the REFEREE of the fight in an MMA contest, if he observes a no action? he, the REFEREE will restart or reset the fight, we call this REFEREES discretion. even if one of the fighters is on an advantage position and he does not do any action to show to the referee. then the referee will dis-engage them for a restart due to inaction, that is why we will always give reminders to fighters to move. sometimes warn them if they dont move, we will stand u up and restart the action/fight Standing up.

- inactivity will only lead to a RESTART, hence THEY STAND UP.

- now RESETTING or RESET is another part, if and when one fighter is on an advantage? and he is CLEARLY WORKING HIS WAY IN PUNCHING OR APPLYING A SUBMISSION or A TECHNIQUE to his opponent? and they are ALREADY TOO CLOSE TO THE ROPES? we RESET them to the middle of the ring...simple as that...

- inactivity will only lead to a RESTART, hence THEY STAND UP.

- due to training and constant visits to the MAT...the referee can distinguish wat is inactivity.

- we also DO NOT PUT REFEREES who ARE NOT PRACTITIONERS of the ART in GRAPPLING OR GROUND FIGHT OR THE MMA COMPETITION, A FIGHTER and KNOWLEDGEABLE to the RULES AND REGULATIONS of an MMA CONTEST.

- regarding ur last question?...URCC!!! next year...January man unta ang planu nila...but Sinulog will be the main event of that month...the fiestivities will only hinder or compete with the event... so I think mao ilang ge move on FEBRUARY next year...

- disclaimer : I dont belong to URCC yet, as a crew or one of the organizers.
