it will also run on desktops via USB.Â* i'm currently using a 3.5" 80GB HDD on a USB enclosure for both my laptop and desktop PC.Â* for the same price as the 2.5" 40GB HDD, you get twice the capacity:

Â* enclosure - P950
Â* 3.5" 80GB - P3,100 (WD) or P3,200 (Maxtor) or P3,400 (Seagate) or you can opt for a 120GB HDD

IMHO, this would be a better setup.Â* the only drawback is, the enclosure require its own power supply.Â* but i see it's no problem since you're also considering an external CD-writer (which also has its own power supply)
