    @bonito,

    ayaw lang cguro ko i-idolize oi kay pareha ra ta nga nag sige ug kat-on. hehehe .. ayaw sad dayon mo pag to-o sa ako gipang sulti. mas nindot gyud kong inyo usa sulayan kong sakto ba gyud ang ako mga tips. basin sayop diay ko. with that, we can correct and learn as we go along the way. well, talking of tips, i have something for the artists/bands. basi ra gihapon ni sa ako experience ug observation.

    1. basin na mention na sa uban nga members diri. mas preferrable kong during sa praktis sa band maggamit gyud ug metronome para mas ma tighten/solid ang rhythm sa song. this is one of the weak points of bands here in cebu. after all, music is all about tones and rhythm. and our mostly rock, pop, etc, which demands for solid/tight rhythm. Unlike, classical which has a greater degree in varying tempos. but still, classical artists still use the metronome. sayon kaayo huna-hunaon nga maka go along ta sa metronome pero kong imo ni buhaton, lisod ni siya sundun as the song progresses. and the more you praktis with the metronome, the more tighter your rhythm will be. patient is virtue. ang sunod nga tip kay related ra ani nga tip.

    2. during recording, digital na man gyud kaha ang ato recording karon, why not use the tools built-in with our DAWs(protools/sonar/nuendo/reaper/etc.) and two of these tools are the metronome and markers in the DAWs timeline. as a suggestion but not required, mag prepare mo ug simple score sa inyo song nga i-record. bisag chord progression in the staff(treble/bass clef) and each segment with verse/chorus. then the engineer can make a mapping in his DAW's timeline. Like for example, the first four bars/measure is the intro and so on.mas ok kong naa sad lyrics along with the chords in the staff. Default DAW's time signature is 4/4 with a key signature of C. But this can modified to the time and key signature of your song.

    3. with mapping of the markers done, you can now record with ticks/metronome of the DAW. the purpose is to make your rhythm tighter like it is being quantize to the beats of the DAW's timeline and the life of the engineer easier. this is beneficial to both performer and engineer.

    another thing, if the engineer knows the key or the chord progression of the song, it is easier for him to manipulate EQ. remember that musical notes has a corresponding frequencies and the EQ is labeled in frequencies not notes. this is link between music and technology. also, if you're recording with sync to the DAW's metronome and with the current advancement of DAW's technology, time stretching(like elastic time protools 7.4, audio snap in sonar, etc.) for off timing correction is a breeze on the engineers part. If you feel this is cheating then you must praktis hard enough to sound at your best and avoid cheating. hehehehe.. This is a challenge to the bands. The key here is planning.

    Again, ayaw dayon mo pagtuo sa gipang sulti, sulayi usa. Wala man cguro ma usik o mawala. Or you can forget it.

    To the original poster of this topic and moderator, i think i'm way too off topic here. My apologies. You may delete. I'm just trying to help in my own little ways.

    Thank you very much for reading.

    OT: Getting used to the metronome is something the rhythm section needs to master... especially drummers. Pero recording through a click track is not really a must. Hinuon, mas maayo gyud if the drummer can keep a close-to-perfect time... and I know some great drummers out there, technically proficient but has no sense of time - they try to lay down a track with a metronome and they're playing all over the place. PERO - In some situations, it is also good to have the music breathe ... to come in and out of time. One example is the SIAMESE DREAM album by The Smashing Pumpkins. Jimmy Chamberlain and Butch Vig chose not to play along a click on that album and the results were great. Same thing with Dave Grohl's work in Nirvana's NEVERMIND - si Butch Vig gihapon ang nag produce - some songs in that album comes in and out of time.

    agree on that. as long as the whole band is in time with the drums and bass. and contributes to the aesthetic of the song in a positive direction.
