both. recommended is that dog not to be bathe 2 days before and after application. It only becomes effective when the dog has its natural oil in its coat.

Yes. For fipronil (Frontline®) to be effective, it must be taken up in the sebaceous glands, which is only possible if the animal has its natural oil in its coat.

Bathing clears away dirt, as well as dog's natural oil. Oil completely comes back after a day or two (longer during cold weather), uptake and complete spread of the active ingredient fipronil takes about 1-2 days. Stored fipronil is then re-released for a period of one month.
