kaylangan may reserve kang money during vacation kase masho short talaga pag walang students. and another thing, u need to upgrade your computers kase may mga lumalabas na bagong games na matataas ang requirements, magastos talaga...

    our rate:
    internet/rental/typing - 25/hour (with webcam or without)
    Non online games - 20/hour

    a lot of competition today

    Default internet cafe business

I am also into the internet cafe business which me and my friends put up sometime in 2000. It was sort of a hobby lang coz we have day jobs. We invested almost 300k, having spent more than a little over half the amount on 2nd hand celeron computers. At first we hired a technician to handle the cablings and the setting up of the units. We found out that he's more of a businessman than a technician. Luckily, we were able hire a computer student who's very good at hardwares and a fast learner when computer hardwares and networking are concerned. He became close to all of us and we often treated him as part of the family. After he graduated with honors at a computer college, we installed him as the manager of our cafe. He also hires parttimers who are all computer students.

We have ups and downs. First few months of operation, we earn less than P1k per day. Good thing a company nearby rented all our computers for 45 days at a premium rate. Customer base decreased but it was for our survival for another 4 months. Before the DSL era, it was very difficult for internet users coz it was very slow. 6 out of 10 of the units are used for games though.

Then came some misunderstanding with the building owner. Renovation took longer than expected. But again, all our units were rented at a little premium for election purposes.

With the opening of a large school nearby, competetion began to sprout everywhere - a netopia nearby and a couple other cafes. Most of our units are athlons, and they said that it's good for gaming. Kids prefer our cafe, even though the aircon can't seem to handle a big crowd, coz it cheaper and faster than those of our competitors. (It must be the configuration, but I am not sure.) Competetion is a blessing really. Our daily sales more than doubled and it's filled up from morning till almost closing.

Now, speaking of returns after almost 5 years, we didn't have any. Profits returned to upgrading of the units. I'll wait till this month end and maybe we can now enjoy the profit.

IF EVER i will put up an internet cafe again. Certainly IT WILL not be my main source of income. The return of investment is just uncertain.

For example, My main income is through selling computers, computer parts, repairs, software, and the internet cafe would just be secondary. Probably with 5 to 10 PC units only.

My forte now is online business. I'm planning to set up an online store in the future or selling premade websites, logo designing, webhosting and then probably put up internet cafe as a sideline.

i also run an internet cafe. this business is starting to suck. the main reason? due to more netcafes operating then when they see few customers coming, they immediately decide to lower the rent @ P15 per hr. here in ozamiz, netcafes used to charge P20/hr then stupid owners started lowering to P15 so everyone followed except a few including me. i charge P5 for 15 mins so 1 hr is P20-the most logical price. P15/hr is stupid i tell you! i charged P15/hr when i opened but increased it at P20 (games & w/cam) later & no customers asked why that means they understand the increasing cost of electricity. customers remained & sales went up.
