speakeasy
A 13 year old girl committed suicide after a very bad on-line MySpace breakup with a "boy". BUT, the boy was NOT a boy. The boy was a woman in her 40's who INTENTIONALLY stalked this girl on MySpace by posing as a 16 year old boy; becoming close "friends" with her and then turning mean trading insults and in the final message stating “The world would be a better place without you.”
This girl then went to her bedroom and hung herself.
The woman who did this to her KNEW the girl and her family. She lived just 4 houses down the street. She and her family were "friends" with the girl and her family. They were neighbors. They also knew the girl had self-esteem issues, depression, and was on medication for the depresssion.
After a full year's investigation by the FBI - NO CHARGES will be filed against this woman because "she didn't do anything illegal"!

For anyone to intentionally target and harrass another person, especially a child, over the Internet - whether they commit suicide or not should be a crime.
The fact that this woman could be so cruel and not be punished for her actions is appalling. MySpace should not be allowing adults to "pose" as children in the first place. Our laws need to be updated to prevent others from "getting away with murder" using the Internet.
