Yup.,its true that there are some that some a!!ho## in some groups but most of the time you get
flak not because you don't know linux but try to ask really annoying questions. And when people get an RTFM reply from a linux guru they usually tend to take it as an insult...

We also have a basic user course. That's only three days. Covers the GUI, basic navigation, the Linux filesystem, and OpenOffice. This course is pretty cheap at only P3,000.

Give CTL a call at 254-4004. Just inquire about the Linux courses and tell them you heard it from me in this forum.
Pila man diay ang kanang para magkacertificate ka? heheh. Do I have to go to Basic course b4 makasulod ug kadtong fourmodules na imo giingon? hehehe.

Here's some good news from the column of Obet Verzola on Computerworld Philippines.
    http://www.itnetcentral.com/computer...=Computerworld

I’m listing below some recent migrations from Windows to Linux, based on Computerworld Philippines reports (CWP, May 2, 2005):
The Standard Chartered Bank, the oldest foreign bank in the Philippines, decided last year to switch its key business units, such as consumer banking, wholesale banking, operations, and finance, to Linux. The bank considered Linux more cost-effective and easier to manage, enabling it to “serve our customers better, faster and with ease.”[/list:u]
Other local firms which have shifted to Linux include the SM Group of Companies, Jollibee Foods Corp., Philippine Airlines, and several major telecommunications companies.[/list:u]

The May 2005 issue of the British magazine Linux Format gives more instances:
The Brazilian army and navy had switched to a Linux distribution developed specifically for the South American market by Conectiva, which recently merged with Mandrakesoft.[/list:u]
The SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, now maintained by Novell, has been granted Level 4 security certification by the US government, qualifying it for command-and-control use. Red Hat has also applied for a similar certification and is now going through testing.[/list:u]
IBM is setting aside $100 million for the next three years for Linux development to help its customers on PDAs to mainframes to shift to Linux. IBM’s commitment to Linux can be seen in its role convincing the two government institutions below to migrate:[/list:u]
The entire workforce of Germany’s national railways company Deutsche Bahn, consisting of 55,000 employees, is shifting to Linux. This follows a similar decision made by the southern German city of Munich (which city bureaucrats reversed after some desperate lobbying by Microsoft).[/list:u]
The Ministry of Health of New Zealand is also shifting to Linux, because “Windows can’t support what we do, and its management controls aren’t consistent with a data centre operations.”[/list:u]

hi, i have installed Fedora Core 4 on my computer (dualboot with Windows XP), anyone know how to mount the hda1 automatically when i login my username on FC4? im new in linux. just like Ubuntu, but Ubuntu automatically setup the scripts during the installation. I already know how to mount it manually. I just dont know what configuration or script files to edit, so when i login to my username i can see my hda1 on /mnt.

my windows XP is in 'hda1'
would be nice too if i can create a shortcut icon in my desktop like 'hda1 drive'
