"He who receives a good turn, should never forget it: he who does one, should never remember it." -Charron

WE DID IT! That's it,,, YOU and i. I know the word "you" is a very broad pronoun, but that's exactly what i meant. I may never know "you" or i may, but in one way or another, YOU have made this 3-day journey a sucess and i salute the champion in you.

First i want to say that one of my goals in producing this event is to meet and gather the guitar loving people of Cebu. They are the Artists, Guitar Makers, Guitar Enthusiats or just plain, everyday people that love to hear and watch what diffenent things a guitar can do or sound. Mission Accomplished. People, especially the Cebuanos, love the Guitar and Cebu is truly the Guitar Capital of the Philippines. I am not making up this declaration but YOU did, yes the people who came to watch, the sponsors who helped and of course the guitarists/artists themselves.

I also want to say a little something to the artists, this will be quite long so bear with me:

JOEL OPORTU, man, i have never HEARD clasiscal guitar played live maybe it's because only very few people appreciate classical music & bai, YOU are the first i've heard and just like my "first love", i can never forget that night.

BEBOT ALEGRE, sir, thank you. You have finesse and the refinement of playing your guitar. You are Beautiful.

JAKE, bai even though we only just met, but you play guitar like a 40 year old guy trapped in a 20-year-old-something body. I don't know where you got the chops but kudos to you.

PRUDENCE, sus ka grabe nmu mu tukar! I honestly got and "erection" bai when you played. IGATTTTTT!!!!

ANDY CALOPE, bai, you should be the next ZALDE or RICKY PINEDA of Cebu. Look them up.

JUNX MUANA, sir, salamat gyud kaau. You just don't know it sir but, you are a big, big part of the CEbu Music Scene and you inspire people. You are a REAL person and if i have another father, it would be you sir.

I want to shake your hand unta, but wla naman ko ka kita nmu after you played. Anyway, you've got real genuine talent there and gamay ra kaau nga mga guitarists nga kabaw sa imu gi buhat. Looking forward to working with you again bai, salamat.

BRUCE CONTE, ....many people were asking me like "who was that american guy that played in the show? Mr. Conti Kunte" "Man,,," i said, " He's MR. CONTE,,,, MR. BRUCE CONTE...google him" ...Salamat sir and i hope you will be staying in Cebu like....forever so the city can adopt you and we will have the right to say: "MR. CONTE, the legendary American Jazz/Blues Guitarist of Cebu" We are proud to have you sir, Thanks.

MARK SY, bai, you guys rock for such a young age...reminds me of myself when i was younger, hehe. Kudos...and keep ROCKIN'!!!

Nice kaau inyu compo and also great kaau imu riffs on that really awesome Strat. Pa hulma ta P10,000 dha be.. Ayaw ka lain ha......

JAAN, i know kato inyu gi tukar GRABE tu ka lisud! I know kay kung ako banda mu tukar ato inyu gi tukar, NAH! KA GIDLAY GYUD MI!!! also, dli guyd ko ka sipra sa ka to imu mga riffs bai, so , my salutations to you and your band. Great Job!

WILLAN MANUZ, bai pa tudlo unya ko nmu ha Bitaw serious ko bai. If i'm going to have a teacher now, it's gonna be you bai. Great kaau tu imu CHICKIN' PICKIN'. I'm proud bai nga you are a part of the GuitarFest. Salamat Salamat Salamat...

VINCE RUSSO, the thing you did during the show was great, man. Your little blues and soul R&B history was really enlightening. Great Band,,,Great Grooves...Great Guitar Work. Thanks man you are OK! Looking forward to working with you again...

Peru, salamat kaau bai nga nka play sa ato nga show. Lisud sad tu imu gi tukar bai nu? You are the LARRY CARLTON of Cebu...i honor you bai. also, if you need any help with your band, like gigs,or something, ayaw lang ka ikug ug duol nko. Matsalams

MANNY AMADOR, sir, although i just recently met you but it fells like i have seen you or heard you for a very long time. You are very good with the guitar and the guitar is very good with you. That relationship or bond with the guitar is seldom achieved in an artist. JIMI had that bond, STEVIE had that bond and YOU have it too. Many many thanks to you sir.

DANNY MUMAR, your new songs bai really sound great!! No BS here peru nindut gyud bai,,,so nice that you get to experiment with every album you come up.

JON (Postmorten), "METAL - any of various opaque, fusible, ductile, and typically lustrous substances that are good conductors of electricity and heat" METAL bai,,,heavy metal lives in you. The way i see it, inspiration ka sa mga heavy metal guitar geeks. Gamay ra baya ganahan ug metal dri cebu, but, keep that flame burning, that heat going, that electricity conducting, inspire a whole generation bai...we can all do it. MATSALAMS kaau nimu and your band

BENJIE RIGOR, Benjie, benjie, benjie benjie, benjie, benjie. benjie baaaiiiii, GRABE KA!!! I love your songs bai,,,they are slow and that's why i love them. Lisud baya mag solo ug slow sa ato mga gitarista peru you nailed it bai. You should record your songs and release them commercially. Bisag sa itunes lang,,,call me bai and i'll help you publish your songs sa itunes. My gratitude...

EDGAR "EDZ" ANCIANO, bai i have nothing to say to you...except ....that Distortion, that Overdive. When you hit that power chord, it's like, it's the most beatiful sound in the universe i've ever heard. You make a distorted guitar sound like mother nature. You are nature bai, it's in your nature, YOU are born to rock. T.Y.

Indie music is kicking and alive in Cebu because of YOU. People just dont know it but you are the MOST hardworking artist i have ever met, not only in the indie music scene but also in the CEBU MUSIC community in general. Hats off to you bai

DAVID GONZALES, your band in one of the few metal bands that gets lots of exposure. I have seen you guys in Handuraw, i think last year, and the one that caught my eye was the you. GREAT GUITAR, GREAT WORK.

ARCIMON, you should have been a *** guru or somthing instead of playing guitar, haha. Bitaw bai, igat sad kaau ka mu guitar and i like that "spacey" sound of yours. Reverb & delay is soooo friendly with you bai. Thanks also to Budoy, and to all your band members. Forever ko indebted to you guys. Gracias.

DONDON "GAW" LUCHE, ah hehe he he he hehhe heh heheh hehe hhe hehe

Killer kaau imung rendition sa "Always with me, always with you" Thank you kaau bai. Thank you too to MARCO POLO PLAZA HOTEL for their help and support.

PAUL CANADA, beautiful and sensous rendition of "A Day in a Life". You hit it bai, right there in their G-Spots, hehe. It so good to hear you play slow, sad, melodic songs. It's the new "you" i think but you sound soooo gooooood... Matsalams bai

FRANKLIN VELOZO, Mr. Voodoo Chile, you are so young bai and yet playing all these shit. You have a very shining and radiating future bai. Kudos too to your band POWERSPOONS.

SAMMY ASUNCION, i have my regrets...i regretted that i only met this guy only last saturday morning. If i have a guitar god, then it would be this guy. All the experiences, the knowledge gained is written all over his face and hair and flowed out from his ever sensitive heart to his hands and to his axe. This guy is not a guitar player, this guy is a Holy Immaculate Entity sent down by Mr. God himself to educate, indoctrinate, instruct us the HOLY MANNER OF PLAYIING THE MUSIC. This guy has written the LA BIBLE SAINTE DE LA MUSIQUE. "FREEDOM FREEDOM FREEDOM" i'll never forget these words. To Sam: MERCI BEAUCOUP.

...and for the people behind the scene:

ROSEMARIE L. ANG, salamat mommy. I don't need to enumerate or to detail what you have given to the festival, but, from my heart and soul, gracias mucho. I know the festival was not financially succesful, and i'm so sorry for that but to be part of History doesn't have to have a price tag. I'm glad that we are in this together and i can now acclaim to our children and to the world that without you, the Guitar Festival would just be in our minds, waiting for someone else to kick-start it. ....I love you....forever...

"KULTO40" with RANDY PAGES, HENRI & KAY TRADIO, LYNDON B., JOEL Z., my bandmates. You are not just my bandmates, you are FAMILY.

ALVIN "MR. LEE" GINDOY, this guy is my partner for this event. He has sweated blood and tears to gets the bands together and formulate their skeds. It's not easy though to schedule almost 30 guitarists for a 3-day event. Bai, you deserve all the honor, righteousness and uprightness more than anyone. We are Forever Freinds. Salamat.

TENGGOY COLMENARES (NOISE GARAGE), hangi, thanks sad kaau for your help. I know we've been friends like forever and sometimes i kinda miss you shouting and making fun of me, hehe. I love you man...

C.G.F.H.B. (CebuGuitarFest House Band), to: Winston Velez (killer drums), Jay Young (smooth bass), Bobit Lusica (cool keys), Roger Bojos (Mr. Pianoman), Ruel (groovy percussions), JOHN CINCO (bass walker), JERROS DOLINO (suave drummer): My personal thanks to these guys. without you, ang uban gitarista dili gyud ka tukar. Many many many thanks to you.

JOHN UNSON (Freelance PhotoArtist), Great shots sa mga guitarists bai,,,many thanks to you

    ...and to our sponsors:

The Outpost (Junks, Randy & Sandy), Marco Polo Plaza Hotel (Mr. Carlo Borromeo), Cafe Laguna (Mr. Rakki Urbina), ASAP Advertising (Mr. Merrik Jacalan), N.F.I. Nominated Freight International (Gary and Nitzi), United Concepts (my cool and smooth bandmate & drummer, JOEL Z.), GLOBE Telecom, Tambuli Beach Resort, RCTV (Jay and Yohann Young), EX-O Garments (Rosemarie L. Ang).....ONE BIG THANK YOU!!!

I hope i haven't left out anyone, peru kung naa, reply lang mu sa blog.

THANK YOU SPECIALLY TO THE PEOPLE WHO CAME TO WATCH THE FESTIVAL. We definitely placed CEBU on the guitar map as the GUITAR CAPITAL OF THE PHILIPPINES.

"Thankfulness is the beginning of gratitude. Gratitude is the completion of thankfulness. Thankfulness may consist merely of words. Gratitude is shown in acts. "
    -Henri Frederic Amiel

What a COOL event! I had a chance to meet and HEAR some of Cebu's top musicians over the course of 3 nites... Everyone (including the great audience members who attended) was so incredibly friendly. The promoters did a fantastic job (Thanks Albert n Alvin) and The Outpost was the perfect venue.
