if its a phat it can be downgraded without the use of another PSP..
a simple tool, like select ur current FW then select which FW you want to go to, is available free for download..

why the color distinction? gold-phat? what if it's pink-phat or platinum-phat?
will it be more expensive?
will the color of the psp affect the conversion process or the price?

have an psp expert to convert it... honestly, i do receive an e-mail from a friend on how to upgrade ur psp for free. instructions must be strictly followed otherwise BRICK imo psp.

there are 2 ways to upgrade it:

1. if you wanna upgrade it for free (or mahalan ra ka magpa-upgrade), follow instructions carefully to avoid BRICK.

2. if you feel you're afraid to upgrade your psp by yourself because of bricking factor, then prepare your money and have it upgraded psp experts like trazer (just pm him).
