OT: correct me if im wrong but the 5,500 per month compels you to work only for 4 hours? Otherwise thats way way way below the minimum wage if your workng your butts for that 8-12 hours per shift. Whitegold or Gaisano nalang tingale ang nagbuhat ana uy

Nope it's eight hours! Sometimes kung kulangan ang nursing staff kay mu extend pa ka ug another 8 hours the most..

For six months kay casual employees pa man daw mi and then no work no pay pa jud so naay possibility nga ang imong P5,500 mu ubos pa jud.. The salary though will be adjusted to the regular rate once we become "regular employees."

Heck I resigned from that hospital after two months, hehe..

Do we have EMPLOYMENT LAWS here in the Philippines like what is strictly observed and practiced in the US ie EEO , MINIMUM WAGES , PAYS and LEAVES , etc ?

Even if there are no UNIONS involved which I dont really know if they have it ... as long as there is a HOTLINE where you can air your concerns with your EMPLOYER bisan asa na industry is what matters most .

Medyo OFFTOPIC .... concerning lang sa ECONOMIC GROWTH , EMPLOYMENT and STATUS of PROFESSIONALS specially here in Cebu .

If not most of my batchmates / classmates , kadaghanan ni adtong panahon na HS pa mi na mga naning kaayo ni sila ug honor students sila karon ang matawag nato na ISANG KAHIG , ISANG TUKA trying to survived while kadtong mga bugoy kaayo and pasaron na lang aron maka graduate kay mao karon ang hayahay ang kinabuhi earning enough income capable of raising a dozen kids FINANCIALLY WISE being enterpreneurs na daghan pod ang undergrads . Is PHILIPPINES now showcasing that DEGREES in COLLEGE is just in form of a piece of SHITPAPER called DIPLOMA and experience and pagka " MARU " is the way to go to live the life everyone wants ? Mo vouch sad ko ha na kadtong mga negosyante na akong pasabot walay illegal gi sudlan .

wala labot ang naa na pamilya hehehe.. kay mao man ni makatabang nila..

good input..but the problem is the "feeling" of being exploited. that is something subjective kaayo and no basis if not backed up by facts & figures.
Fact: in management studies, a worker will somehow in their lives experience a "feeling" of being exploited in their workplace. bisan asa ka trabaho...anywhere in the world.

Testimonies from call center folks are facts....force leaves, mass lay-offs due to unstable accounts are figures.
And the "feeling" i meant here is hunger and uncertainty due to the volatile work not to mention the in your face exploitation itself such as compulsory overtime. This aint just a management literature, its actual and verifiable catastrophe within the industry

i have no doubts that the above are true, but it's a fact also that some people love their call center jobs, their high pay--30K - 60K a month for the aggressive ones in sales, and that some are just very willing to work hard and long for promotions. management positions pay very well, but there are also some who want to stay as agents because of the sales incentives/bonuses.

i have nothing against the BPO industry and i think a call center job is a decent job.

OT:

Aside from a law that covers minimum wages, there should also be a law against discrimination

- Age (e.g. Must not be more than 25 y.o...... lisud daw i train ang mga tiguwang ingon tu amo HR before, kay dili man sila mudawat if above 30 naka for that reason)

- Religion (there's a hospital here in Cebu that requires you to be a Roman Catholic, and another one that requires you to be Born-again)

- Color (I read an ad somewhere that required applicants to be fair skinned... kung African-American ka, automatic diay ka dili madawat)



etc...etc... unsa pa? hehe
