bro please PM me the company(ies) u said that is/are violating the min wage. would be nice if u have some proof (confidentiality assured) so we can prosecute them and help rid this ugly practice here.

I don't have proof man gud. It just came from the workers. Ang uban sad obvious observation. Sa mga exporters lang daan, daghan na kaayo.

If the agencies concerned will conduct randome raids sa mga SME sa mandaue, i think the ratio would be 7 out of 10 siguro.

But I also thought that the government is just turning a blind eye on all these for obvious reasons.

"Random raids" are not allowed...u need a court order to do that. Authorities find it hard to pin down suspected companies coz nobody wants to put forward their complaints. Also, alleged "underpaying" companies have sufficient proof/documentation that they're complying with the min. wage.

lisud man gud na pamaagi bro coz the process is usually a forwarded complaint addressed to DOLE showing proof of underpayment or a report/documentation of the same asking DOLE to call on and investigate the suspected company of such illegal practice.

also a raid is only conducted if and when there's a serious criminal offense that requires police/NBI intervention such as employment of minors or a sweatshop and the like or if a company repeatedly and continuously violated or failed to comply the minimum wage despite an order that was previously issued to them.

this is so true... i know several businesses employing just below the minimum wage... There is actually if the minimum wage will be strictly followed. Many businesses will be forced to let go many of their employees. Though underpaid, many employees opt for this than not having a job. In these times, it is very hard for Juan to look for a job where everyone is cutting cost due to crisis....

i remember 2 years ago, a taxi driver told me his story... He was working for a certain company. His salary was slightly below minimum but he was okay with it. His fellow workers were not satisfied with the minimum so they staged a strike to increase their wages. It so happened that the owner was no longer interested in his business because he was already old and decided to retire. The owner closed the business. The workers were forced to leave. The taxi driver was very disappointed because though the salary was below minimum, the benefits were very competitive elsewhere. He blamed his co workers for his misfortune during that time....

all would choose to work instead.
