    @yokam

    actually, i think, the specifics is what caused all this reactions against the said discrimination.. Medical professionals, products of med schools in the phils., are being generalized as part of the scandal.. and implied/labeled as incompetent..
    If terry hatcher was given a script with a pejorative term such as "nig*er".. do you think she'd say it? i dont think so.. If she was black, maybe that would be accepted by the black community and find it funny..
    Yeah, truth hurts, but what hurts more is if its not the truth.. Med products/professionals from med schools in the philippines are not incompetent..
    As I said, we don't know what's the real catch about such line, if it's done intentionally to mock and make Filipinos as the laughing stock, or just to inject some "humor" in the scene, we really don't know. Filipinos credibility is on the line.

    Here's my simple logic:

    Nursing exam leakage scandal == Cheating
    Cheating == A means to pass
    Cheaters == Doesn't deserve to pass
    Nurses == Medical field
    Filipino nurses == Cheated during the exam
    Filipino nurses == Doesn't deserve to be professionals

    In turn, it hits back to the medical field, the credibility of nurses and medical professions in the Philippines. After all, people will really generalize Filipinos as cheaters because of such incident and not look at it as an isolated one, it boils down to credibility. Who would believe in one's competence when there's already a preempted notion that one is a cheater?

    I have seen such scene and heard the line too and tinuod sakit gyud paminawon, yet looking at the other side, it should serve as an eye opener for us and at the same time probably a price we pay for the wrong doing.

    Tinuod nga sayop ilang i-generalize ang Filipino med schools, yet too bad that's how the way it goes. Pareho ra gud sa fraternities, because daghan kaayong gubot nahitabo tungod sa mga fraternities, people immediately generalize fraternities as violent people, yet sa tinuod dili diay to. Same is through here, na-generalize nila ang Filipinos. Yet we can't blame them too, after all nahitabo man pud gyud ang cheating.

    so no apology nalang? is that it? or apology and we prove them wrong as well? its not about being sensitive, its about not allowing them to humiliate us even if we are poor. in the name of human right.

    korek ka dyan mr ho chia!

    dili man jud to sakto... abc apologized already which means that they know that it wasn't right.. kay nganong mo-apologize man sila if wala silay sayop?

    well, i just hope that this issue will once and for all be settled... i think in one way or another, this has taught us some valuable lessons...

    so don't hire Filipino nurses, that simple, why would they humiliate us if they don't trust our expertise?
    well, the real score is they need us, they know we perform well in our field and their so called hospitals that numbered in the hundreds will have to shut down without the Filipino health care Professionals! and hurt the health care industry, patient needs and the US economy as a whole but we are poor so bullying us is ok for them but they're dead wrong! we speak our minds and they just have to live with it. won't they?

    Personally, I didn't see it that insulting Filipinos is the real aim for such line, it's more of injecting something humor, which in the first place is not funny. Just because we're insulted doesn't mean that it's what they mean. Have we ever taught that the leakage scandal has not done something bad to Filipinos? We look at their mistakes (probably because we're the affected ones) yet we overlook ours.

    It was a real eye opener for them, and they keenly and openly accepted their fault. And I do hope that we Filipinos should stop whining now because it is probably a result of our mistake too. Sport lang unta ta and we have to accept whatever flaws we have.

    inject humor in the expense of the med schools products as incompetent professionals..

    i disagree on that.. filipinos are not generalized as cheaters by general public.. after all, they are still accepting.. esp. from other batch of the said scandalous exam..

    i have seen it too, and indeed it was hilarious.. because the writer was bird-brained.. hehehe..

    i disagree that all fraternities are generalized as violent groups.. the so called violent groups are only the tip of the iceberg of all fraternities..
    and its not the same because sa fraternities, naay basehan, sa med schools issue, wla..
    review centers nuon naa pa.. hehehe..

    And too bad most people don't see it this way. Most people generalize and conclude immediately from hearsays. That's what happened here.
