@all: I can speak English but I heard some people speak better than me especially those from call centers. I don't want to be a call center agent but would like to improve my English conversation fluency skills. Is Speechcom still a good training center for such a purpose or do you have other training centers in mind? I don't like to learn Californian accent (I don't want to fake my accent but just want to speak 100% straight English without grammar mistakes).

For a start in learning English, here's some of my tips:

1.) Read anything that is written in English. But read something wherein you're inclined or interested in so you won't get bored reading.

2.) Watch movies. This is a good help in the pronunciation and diction.

3.) Practice both orally and verbally.

4.) Having a dictionary is a great help.

5.) And lastly, communicate with others in English. There's no better way to learn than through experience.

**For proper sentence construction, the best way I can think of is look for your Grammar/English book during your elementary days and study it again.

Is your communication skill killing you?

This has been the most common dilemma that our job seekers wanted to cope with and has been the source of frustrations to some. Have you taken a long, hard look at how well you communicate with others lately? I bet the answer is "no". Well, I suggest that periodically you review how good you are at being clear in your conversations with others, your writing of letters, reports, etc., and your effectiveness in presenting information or delegating work because this is the key on how confident you can be in closing deals especially if you’re a job seeker. To date, BPO is the hottest industry and most of our fresh graduates have wanted to join the bandwagon but without the English accent and fluency on other various languages you’re not welcome not unless if your tech geek.

Anyway, are you worried about how your communication skill is killing you? Don’t worry now there’s the two of us or worst a million of us and I mean it since I’m no good as well when it comes to communication.

i think na ingon na nila tanan.. reading, practicing, etc..
also, yaw kaayo ka conscious sa imong i-sturya.
Then be aware of common mistakes in the english language, like "loose" and "lose." Kapila gyud ko ka basa na ma sayop ug gamit ni na words. Loose is lu-ag, lose is mawala. Some ppl say man gud, like for example, "She likes to loose weight." It's supposed to be, "She likes to lose weight."

in our house, every book was either in english or bisaya. my parents never watched tagalog films either, except for those art films. if i remember correctly, my parents banned tagalog shows at home. every show i watched was in english. otherwise it was teban and goliat.

anyway, read a lot, look for bestsellers and read those, para sayon ra basahoon at the same time di ka pul-an. watch american sitcoms. and be humble enough to ask.
