Unfortunately, i've heard of a few up and coming bands who don't follow call times/time slots and trust me, reputation does come far in this business. When organizers ask for my help in choosing bands for certain events, I only recommend the ones that i can trust and those that can't potentially ruin my relationship with the client. I honestly have discouraged promoters from hiring bands who have bad/tarnished reputations because they may ruin a show. The good thing is, they don't know who they are! hahahaha! Sorry guys, it's just business.
Lastly, the most important lesson that i have learned regarding this business is that everything is about LEVERAGE. If you don't have any clout as an artist, you don't have the leverage to demand certain things. That's why you have to build a solid reputation in this industry, not just pertaining to music and artistry but also with regard to character.
