i don't know but there are a lot of bands out there that sound alike esp. the pop/punk ones. they claim to be punk but its really not punk... if you listen to The Ramones, *** Pistols or the Clash... the new punk bands imo just pale in comparison... its not nostalgia its fact.

pero sa local scene i think its def. getting better... kudos to the guys at Lighter Records

i very much agree. but the sad thing is...only those "stores" are generating moolah out of it. ang mga artists nato can still be tagged as "starving artists". Gikan sa ilang kaugalingong bulsa ang ilang gasto. Ultimo pangrecord sa ila album. Buot hunahunaon unta, most of these Manila bands are shiit, pardon my french, compared to Cebuano bands talent-wise. And truth is, I never heard of local Cebuano bands earning lucratively from their release(except for those who pimped their stuff to the Manila major label bigwigs). Mas maayo unta kung naay artist-friendly nga company/record label para sa mga sugbuanon. Atleast our artists gets their due credit(atleast financially).

On the otherhand, mas maayo ra pod ning in-ani. It's a cleansing process of some sort. Aron katong dili seryoso sa ilang craft/music(and just their for the fad) mamahuway na. The unworthy gets weeded out. Pero sayang lageh, daghang banda nga nindot manukar nga nangdisband nah without seeing their proverbial limelight. Cebuanos are probably the most underrated artists. They don't get to see their light at the end of the tunnel.

we have the same thoughts about the "weeding out" process haha. sakto ka pre.
and yep. i agree, a lot of artists disband prematurely.. it's sad!
but you know, the scene is young and everyone's learning a little bit everyday.
if there will be more establishments na mosuporta, and more events that happen regularly, i guess these bands will be motivated to at least stick together and play despite the fact na wala sila bayari.. bisag pang exposure lang. it's what's lacking now. ang stability that is a huge factor. coz if venues (like Zzubu) will stop hosting events (SIMBAKO!) i know ma-disable jud ang current scene.. even what happened to Handuraw (closed down) and Vudu (who stopped hosting shows) dako na kawalan sa among part. the bands used to play there every week. now those bands, maglisud na mi ug accomodate.

i do hope to see one day, ma-rewarded sad ang artists financially.. bsag gamay.. pero the way things are locally, murag dugay2 pa jud ni mahitabo.

mao jud mare...Zzubu definitely opened a lot of doors for the cebu indie scene. Mao na lang cguro ni nagpabiling venue ang kugihan kaayong mopa-gig. Nakauyon sad ko sa gibuhat ron sa Zzubu nga mga Metal ug indie/underground bands ang kasagaran nila patukaron. I mean...leave the Bisrock and Showbands to MOR and San Miguel Beer.

I think Cebu Music scene in general is immature, not with the bands alone but also with the listeners, supporters, producers and venues etc.. everything is a process. I believe we cannot jump from being what we are now to something extra ordinary..it takes a lot of effort for all the parties in this music scene to make this evolution speed up,the question is, who is capable of guiding us to do so? no one is.... again this is a natural process where in we should undertake, it realy depends on us local people.. if artist continue to make music based on "unsay uso" and not what they realy like then its up to them but that wouldnt realy help would it? if artist continue to claim they play for example punk and instead play hard core metal, its up to them but that wouldnt help either... this immaturity is also a part of ignorance... people who try to portray a certain genre without aquiring knowlege about it.. not even the basics... then theirs this people who say how dare we say such things.. we should be ready for this, beacause this is a sort of battle anyway... a good kind of battle, and this is where we evolve as musicians.. one thing is for certain, good music will prevail.... it's a dog-eat-dog scene...

Payter man perme ang music scene para nako... It will always have it's fair share of good and bad times so balanse ra... The good thing karon kay mas nidaghan ug mas dali TINGAI ang oppurtunities para sa mga banda tungod sa mga ubay2x na organizers na nigawas karun (apil natung mga daan pod na survive japon). Naa napuy mga mga mapili-an na decent ug affordable recording studios plus ang underground scene kay perme pod gitagad karon whether it be metal/hardcore/bisrcok or unsa pa diha...

I think it's "morphing" again trying to move up to the next level. For those who think it's stale, what do you think we should do?
