I am having a bit of a problem.. My DVD drive isn't working well now, and I suspect the system is causing the problems. So I decided a reformat might fix it, but how would I do that if the DVD drive isn't working? How could I tell if it is a hardware issue or software problem?
I still have to confirm if it is indeed a software problem, which I hope it is.

I think that if you can Boot from your DVD drive then it is a software problem? since it can read from the drive without the software(OS). If it doesn't then it is a hardware problem.
