earth is bombarded by about 6.5 bn gigawatt hour of solar energy per day.which is 55 times more than the world energy consumption per year. if we can capture at least 0.0001% of that energy per day then we are set.the only problem with renewable is its storage and i think we have the means and capacity to solve that problem. Oil is relevant because of its portability our economy is build around it.
