Default Future proof video card today?

Go Nvidia GTX 1000 series or Go with RTX series? Ok pa ba ang GTX 1000 series sa games karon?

With the current advancement of Technology..., and saying 'future proof a VC'!?
Honestly, there is no such thing as future proof and can be too subjective.

Anyways, Morale of the story for this 'future proofing' is..., buy bleeding edge tech today and wait a few days/weeks/months/years until your hardware/software sucks. Then you repeat the cycle...

2 years in tech timeline is already considered "old".. like what dab posted, technology is constantly innovating so it is subjective and kanang inquiry sa graphics card usage depends sad gyud sa imong needs/preference TS. in my case, im still using a gtx 750ti and can play games on medium, but I can only game up to Full HD para dili kaayo mo affect sa akong overall gaming performance.

imo, I think gtx 1080/ti can give you up to 4-5 years. ang market for RTX is ray tracing which is not visible on games yet. mag wait nlng sad ta if unsa ang mga lain nga pakulo sa industry. at the end of the day, It will all come down to "business". so mag release gyud na sila ug bago nga cards probably every 1-2 years para naa silay revenue.

    no such thing... hahahaha!

don't get carried away too much... basta whatever works, that's it...

although i have to admit ni retire nako aning bisyuha, onboard graphics nalang ko ron using my old (but not obsolete ) Ivy Bridge rig... honestly para nako, more than capable pa gyud kaayo kay browsing2x, music, og movies naman lang ko ron, tiguwang na gud, hahaha!

Okay pas alright ang 10 series. Haha. Ang GTX 1080 Ti ky on par sa RTX 2080. The real upgrade from a 1080 Ti is the RTX 2080 Ti but at x2 the cost. Get at least a GTX 1070 Ti or 1080 if you plan on buying the 10 series. But for me, if budget permits, just get the flagship model of the current gen so you wont have to worry about upgrading in the next "few" years... Unless mangatol ang upgraditis.

But seriously, even ang GTX 1070 (non ti) plays great at high to ultra settings @ 1080p.

@ TS, for now, if you can wait for the 2nd Gen RTX GPUs from Nvidia, the better. kay as of the moments, RTX implementation on the games are still in its infancy and it's still a long way to go...

kun naa ka'y GPU dha ron, pahimulsi usa nag gamit. even the previous gen GPUs from both Nvidia (Kepler) and AMD (Southern Island) are still OK in today's gaming. 2012 gani pa ni sila... depende kun unsa na tier sa GPU level from the same family ug actual games na gina duwa-an nimo ang gaming performance sa previous gen GPUs.

now, kun ganahan gyud ka mo palit ug GPU, if you have the cash, get the tier 1... if on budget, a tier 2 or 3 will do... from the current (2xxx series) or the last gen (1xxx series) on the side of Nvidia (if green team imohang pili-on). make sure that your CPU can unleash the beast... the power of your GPU para dili sayang ang gasto... or if you're planning to upgrade your platform, saktoha gyud ang pairing para iwas sakit... iwas gastoitis ug upgraditis... hehehe...

kun gusto ka'g max GFX presets ang games na imohang gipangduwa labi na mga FPS gaming titles, get the GPU that your budget can allow. kun mga MOBA games ang imohang duwa-on, get the 3rd tier GPU and at least, tier 2 or 3 CPU on the current generation para ready for other gaming titles other than MOBA or RTS... or even on the past generation... dili man kaayo bug-at ning mga MOBA gaming titles... they are geared to an entry level HW kay pang-masa games man ni sila...

the term... "Future Proofing" in this negative hobby of ours is very subjective. there are so many factors that are to be considered...

kun mag sige ka'g tan-aw about HW benchmarks or basa2x ug apil2x sa mga PC components discussion threads, aw, mag sige lang ka'g kasakit sa sakit na akoang gi mention sa taas... hehehe...

    cheers...

kay if mag cge lang ka ug apas what's new on the hardware today..ugma kay history na kay naa new today..

and the story goes on and on..and on.

and it's a great thing! Constant Progress

the GTX 1070 will last even up to 5 yrs or more... basta lang dili ma adik sa mga heavy GFX gaming titles ug mo apil2x sa Ray Tracing bandwagon once this tech will be fully matured and implemented by almost new gaming titles... sa net, as of this writing, mao pa ni sila ang gi mentioned pa na naa'y Real-tiime Ray Tracing rendering technique. and more will be coming for sure...

    https://www.digitaltrends.com/comput...a-ray-tracing/

but for sure, for the upcoming MOBA/RTS games, dili ni mag require ug ray tracing capable GPU kay intended for the masses man ni na gaming category... this market usually, don't use high end GPUs...

Have to agree with the statement above if DOTA, LOL or insert your favorite MOBA (a.k.a. eSports titles) here ra ko kutob sa imo duwa even onboard sa AMD or Intel can handle it now.

It's when you move to what's called AAA titles na murag ma challenge na gyud ka.

As for future proofing it's a temporary and IMHO wasteful measure to take kay with the pace of advancement sa technology what could be future proof now might not be future proof anymore in the next weeks or months. Emphasis on months and weeks.

Moral of the story is base you decision on your what you need to use the computer for now and not what you need to use it for in the future.
