Medyo taas kaayo ni nga thread.

1. There's no free lunch, ingon pa sa economics. If moreklamo ka nga marketing strategy sa companies ang free financial seminar, then moreklamo sab ka ngano ang ABS-CBN/GMA La Luna Sangre naay commercial, ngano ang ang mga concerts and events naay corporate sponsorship, etc. Bisan pa ang mga NGO they need donation to sustain their advocacy, even the government needs our taxes.

2. Be open-minded, but remain to think critically. Hunahunaa ang imong personal financial need, before ka mo-buy og product, open account or join the network of advisors. Read between the lines. Tan-awa kung ang ilang mga gipangtudlo nga concept naa ba silay agenda para lang mohumot ang ilang products. If it's about investment, research about risk-return tradeoff sa mga different asset classes nga might have been missed out sa presentation.

Naka-apil ko sa IMG, ngpa-member, ni-open kaiser and mf. But wala ko sa ilang marketing business nga side. kay tungod that's what I didn't need from them. And then ng-financial advisor ko sa laing financial institution. again, iyahay tag trip (for the lack of a better word).

3. Read books/blogs/financial reading materials. Kung dili ka ganahan jud free financial seminar nga naay mga corporate marketing, books are your best bet. But at the same time, think critically pud. Dapat naa kay value system sa imong kaugalingon to know kung ang advocacy sa libro sakto ba or appropriate ba sa imong situation. I have read Cashflow Quadrant ni Robert Kiyosaki, Financial Seminar nga libro ni Randell Tiongson, Predictably Irrational, etc. pero that doesn't mean wala koy questions and rebuttal sa ilang mga gipangyawyaw...

4. Honestly, I'm happy naay mga financial seminar nga libre. Kay either kuwang or non-existent ang programs for financial inclusion ang government. (The only program I know is the weekly stock trading seminar sa Philippine Stocks Exchange sa Ayala) I learned so much. Pero mao sab lagi, you have think on your own feet. Kung dali ra ka ma-convince, buot pasabot you don't know what you want. You have not figured out WHO YOU WANT to be. Think of the seminars as your journey, not your destination. If products are being sold /offered to you, decline. And sleep over it for a week or two. Kung dili ka, ok. Kung suitable sa imong kinabuhi, open para wala ray labad.
