Don't let your emotion get to you towards your child. Maybe the teacher was just disciplining your child.
Pampering and praising your childs fears would definetely make them more fearlul. But instead try to encourage him, teach him how to face their fears. Teach them patience and endurance.

On the other side maybe the teacher is very moody or has a bad attitude, then you should consider transferring to another school.
The crieterion when you investigate on the side of the teacher it that it should be ok with slight physical discipline,
Should never emotionaly punish our child in the level of adults, that would be a mental anguish for them.
Even moderate physical discipline is acceptable as long as the child still feels accepted, cared for and loved in terms of their emotional relation.
The teacher should focus on the correctess on what should be done rather than the punishment and anguish.
