a. You said na for CE grads, they must get into their structural design team. Ako g applyan kay as Design Engineer(CE grad), ma punta ba ko ana na team ? All I know is they're into ship design man so ma consider ba na as structural design sad ang pag design ug ship? I also wonder kung appropriate ba sa mga CE ang ship design kay diba more on residential structures, plants, etc man jud ta?
The position is Design Engineer for all of their employees but the jobs to be done varies. Naay Design Engineer para sa Piping, naay Design Engineer para Structural/Electrical/etc. Again, it depends kung asa ka nga team gi-assign. You just gotta have to make sure nga kung CE ka, adto ka ibutang sa structural nga team jud kay naa bayay mga CEs inside who’re working on pipings when that should have been for MEs. Same goes with the MEs who worked on some structural drawings. They’re not into proper segregation of hirees according to their individual profession.
I know some CE who designed ships and one of them was my instructor in college. Nagsideline siya og ship design as freelancer. I mean, dili lang man sa building, residential, and whatnot nakafocus ang CE because it’s a broad profession. You can say that pipe design could also be handled by CEs knowing that it is technically a steel as well. But that is more for MEs as far as I’m concerned. So if you’re in a Shipbuilding company, just make sure that what you are doing corresponds to what you have studied.
b. Sa compensation na side, how about sa katung naa na experience and ang experience kay sa design rasad which is somewhat relevant (though not in ship design). Do you have any idea how they usually compensate on that one? Though sa mga starters, musabot ko na gagmay ra but they should be competent on that area unta kay naa dghan firm na muhatag ug 15k as compensation for the freshers which is higher that what they're providing and they(TTSP) are planning to expand to a thousand of workers by 2020 daw basi sa HR representative na nag present before the exam.
I reckon it doesn’t really matter to them if you have an experience or not. The thing is if you’re an experienced designer and you’re asking for way too much compensation from them, it could be out of their salary cap. So you’ll still end up getting whatever the company thinks you’re worth or probably slightly lower than what you expected. But then again, if you have an experience, I’d say go to some big time companies.
Not really sure if they’re offering competent salary nowadays but back in my day I had 7k as basic. And that was last quarter of 2003. Go figure!
You’d be lucky if you’re getting 15k from them which I believe it’s possible nowadays though.
c. Sa kanang ipa dala sa Japan for training, I assume naa nay bond. If so, mga pila sad ka months ang bond ani?
I was in Japan for a number of times. In my more than 8 years of service with them, I had some few 3 months business trips and some 1 year intra-company trips. And that’s the only times you’d be able to save up some amount for whatever you’re planning to buy for yourself. In my time, it was 100,000 yen every month which is equivalent to 50k pesos more or less. And that is apart from your salary in the Philippines. Sounds good, right? The only problem is how often do they send you there.
d. "...will be staying along with another person", so basically 2 ramo sulod sa uska room?. Kabantay sad ko ana bus nila mag agi2 sa hiway but with the car/motorcycle thing, di pa afford and di sad ko kibaw..hehehe
Yeah. There will be 2 persons per room.
"And if you're that someone who spends most of his/her entire life living in the city since the day you were born, it takes a lot of getting used to in staying outside of your comfort zone. And that's where real independence begins which is a good thing."--mao sad ni usa sako gi apas na maka work didtu kanang mupuyo ko layo2 sa naandan to experience independence and go beyond your comfort zones.
By the way, I hope this will not sound intrusive to you. Nag work pa ka ron sa Tsuneishi?
Nope. I left a long time ago when Singapore what at the peak of their Oil and Gas businesses.
