If this is an opinion, I would beg to defer. We must consider there is still the congress who makes the laws, and the Supreme Court to do whatever it is intended to do, and lastly, the people who are to wage war against him whenever he goes out of line.

It's clear what he says that he wants the country to be independent. State in point, Singapore. A neutral state who's only focus is to do business with other countries. Who has independent foreign policy and who from time to time is plagued with humanitarian condemnation from the international community.

This is the downside when we have a president that did not posses a national position for the longest time. he is very much used to saying things when only the locale is listening.now that he is president, he now knows that the whole universe is listening to everything he say.

i don't condone his way with words, he could do better, that is what he promised, he said he will be more presidentiable.

at his age, its not easy to change his ways. but i trust him to do better. there is so much room for improvement and there is so much room to learn.

he only has one vested interest and agenda, which is for the betterment of the filipino people. im sure he has advisers. i will not bash him for one year. i will give one year for him to mend his words. for 20 years that is what he usually do. and now he is president i trust he will change. but as with things you are used to, its not easy, let alone at his age.

dili nalang pud ko magpakalimpyo.i have my own flaws too.and at times dili ma control. but duterte's situation is different than mine. he is the president and i am nobody. so he has to change. change has to come to his mouth too. i will be patient with him.

Do you think Singapore didn't have good ties with the US after ousting the British Empire up until now? They even have a Tax Treaty and the US aided them with an influx of dollars in the past. There were many political interventions and lobbying on the side of the US too. Is that the meaning of having an independent foreign policy?
The PHL is under a great relationship with America and quite possible that maintaining it while fixing internal problems inside the filipino political realm will DO us good however one looks on it. There is no denying that in this globalized world, it's better to be on one side than being alone and I prefer to side with the US than being a Neo-Socialist that might, sooner or later, become a full scale 'Union of Fascists'.
