Are we saved by faith alone, or do we need works, too?

I want to know for Unbelievers like you. The basis for Theist is the Judeo Christian Belief. I am asking a person who claim dont believe in what theist believed.

Humans are naturally born empathetic and altruistic towards others, if you still need a 2000 year old book to act and to be like that, then you sir have a problem..

In case you did not think about it, for Theist it will AFFECT the way you View Salvation, it will Affect the way you Live. It will affect the way you approach LIFE. Your understanding of salvation will affect the consistency of the Christian Belief.

It will affect what theist will think if ever they will encounter a situation where they need or want to do good.

It will affect the FAITH.

So maybe for you the subject is Not important, but for theistic belief it is.

So you still need to read the 10 commandments to know that coveting your neighbor's wife is wrong?

These innate source of right and wrong is built within us and there is a source for this and its the Bible and from God.
Ironically Our society is far from perfect, everyday I see the most debased crimes committed like snatching, stealing, murder, drugs ect.
Do we think these people knew that these are wrong? Of course. So what use are these set of rules. That is why the Law cannot save us specially man made laws(innate morality)

"For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."

the law can only be fulfilled for those who walk in the spirit not by flesh or mans own effort.
Its a 2000 year old book still many don't commit to their Bible.

Aside from the ten commandments which was directly written by the hand of God most of these books are written by apostles, prophets, ancient kings and messengers.
Pioneer Translators are not ordinary men but men of high scholarly degrees and superb linguist and with great faith. Old reformers, such as Martin Luther, William Tyndale, Wycliff and Jan Huss to name a few.
They have access to the original text and used it as a source for english translation and various languages since the time of ancient Israelites to early christianity to the pioneer reformers God's word has been preserved.

Although we cannot avoid the devils attempt to corrupt the scripture but with God's providence his word has been preserved.
So we still have a choice and access to the truth of scripture.

But here is the wonder of it all: When the 66 books of the Bible with their 1,189 chapters made up of 31,173 verses are brought together (KJV), we find perfect harmony in the message they convey.

that's why it's better for you religious to stop arguing coz you look like a fool.

That's right the bibke is compilation of many books not only that its also a historical book extraordinarily it conveys harmony in these books. It also has a purpose why it has many authors in different times spanned by hundreds of years or a few years separated by geography and circumstance and yet they still coincide. Prophecies of the life of Christ is fullfilled.
The authors also serves as different witnesses which by their testimony coincide harmoniuosly to prove the validity of scripture.

Seems to be that we have more in contention with false religion than atheism. Its because false religion is the devils more lethal weapon against true christianity.
If it serves me right biblically those who believe there is no God are termed as fools, while false religion is called "the beast" or "dragon" who is enraged by the woman(church)

by careful interpretation, what ephesians 2:8-9 means is that it is by grace of god alone that you are saved (not by any judgement of any man), and though faith may be a requirement, you are clearly instructed to walk in Christ's good works, for only god can judge you in the end..

so are you saved by faith alone? we cannot really say for sure, but you have better chances of cementing your place in heaven if you do something good,

In salvation there's justification, sanctification, and glorification. Faith alone means that a person is justified before God by faith, not by his works. Faith alone doesn't mean it's ok for a person to profess faith and doesn't show good works because after justification, sanctification follows. True faith produces good works, for a believer is created in Christ to do good work. This "stage" of salvation is sanctification. So what if man doesn't show good work? It's just the evidence that there's no sanctification. If there's no sanctification then that is the evidence that the man is not saved.
