As a matter of fact, yes it is part of the program to familiarize the cadets with the current small arms in use by the armed forces.

Familiarization by dismantle and assembly (M16) during our days are already existing. Live firing is another level of adrenaline rush and to experience the weapons real "kick/recoil".

Regardless, such training like ROTC instills discipline. Kaysa anang manilhig, unya inig kaugma, ang area silhigonon gihapon... hayzzzz....

    how about NO.

i do agree with cthulhu, make it engaging para ma attract ang mga taw nga mu apil instead of shoving it down our throats.

Not only are they taught how to operate and maintain it, they are also given the chance to fire it live.

I couldn't agree more than having our own countryman be taught how to defend our own country.
    Kailangan pud sa discipline.

However I would prefer they create a better ROTC program than what I experienced in the past na sometimes murag frat or group2 especially sa officers. Or basin sa akong school or provincial command ra to.

Those were the days sa mga naka try ug ROTC.

It's high time to re-enact this program. Daghan na bolay-og ron, nahibaw-an pasikat ra gyud. BUT probably develop a program more on emergency training because there's one undeniable fact with ROTC, then and now: ROTC grads, such as myself, are incapable with real combat - be it a gunfight or melee.

Unya sa ako panahon, wala pa gyud basic fundamentals sa Eskrima unlike sa older generations and as I observed, there is no real-life difference in the outcome from both CWTS and ROTC grads except for bragging rights.

if ilang balikon nindot if usbon ang program para ma inline sa learning sa basic law principles, hand2hand combat, self defense, ammunition training, basic awareness on how to defend the country from any insurgents ....etc... dli lng k puros ra marching2x ug pa choy2x nyahaha
