yup. correct.manilhig sa ta sa atong kaugalingon nga tugkaran. as far as i know the new AFP commander wants to purchase more boats and attack helicopters.

the existing procurement of FA50 should be enough inventory for the air force. it is actually userful to intercept aircrafts and surveillance.

I think the Philippines can produce it's own weapons given the political will.

building it is not a walk in the park even if you have the will... we did before and failed misserably, we have the will back then... what we need is a good tech transfer like what other country is doing... we dont need to reinvent the wheel

No country can do it overnight but I believe our country could have the ability to produce it's own weapons in my lifetime, and I'm just an 18 years old. I am not some unpatriotic citizen who is pessimistic about the future of our country.

"ability to produce its own weapons" = we already did... you need to do more research... im not trying to burst your bubble but most patriotism known by "your" generation are misplaced or misguided... (no offense ha).. you need to differentiate what is realistic and unrealistic, what is pratical and what is not, its not pessimisn its called being realistic.... we can only do so little... hence the tech transfer is more realistic... and thats what our country is currently doing... the more you learn about our state of armed forces and capability, the more you become a realist... you still have patriotism.. but it wont be misguided.... we still need to learn from our mistakes from the past... which apparently we still making... thats the irony...

even during marcos times our SRDP is booming, but most of it are actually failure... non of them really works... its more like a quick-down-and-dirty workaround on lack of proper equipment...

here are some hint in which you can start your research -
    1) SRDP
    2) Government Arsenal
    3) Dir. Jonathan Martir (ret PMC/N)
    4) Propmech
    5) MPAC
    6) Aguinaldo Class
    7) MSSR (a project of Dir Jonathan Martin)
    8 ) Steel Craft
    9) Haridigma
    10) Kalakian
    11) Philippine Army TUAV (Assunta / Allesandra)
    12) PN Phalanx Project
    13) Mapua Resevist

    Failed SRDP
    - Project Santa Barbara (Bongbong Rocket)
    - Sumpak MLRS (PAF)
    - Super Pinto (a modified Jet Traniner)
    - Hummingbird (a modified copy of Eurocopter)
    - Aguinaldo Class patrol boat
    - Haridigma (Steelcraft)
    - Kalakian (Steelcraft)

im quite familiar with all the SRDP sa AFP since i did some couple blogs before and accumulated a lot of research material...

R&D alone can take out most of our defense budget. Economically, we are not don't have the capability to design our own.
