Palace defends Kris Aquino’s use of presidential chopper | mb.com.ph | Philippine News
If you ever see actress Kris Aquino riding the presidential helicopter or any government vehicle, there is apparently nothing irregular about it.
Malacañang has defended the use of a helicopter by President Aquino’s youngest sister on the campaign trail, saying she is a member of the First Family.
“Members of the President’s immediate family are allowed to ride with him in official government vehicles,” Presidential Communications Operations Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said in a text message to reporters.
The presidential sister, sporting a yellow shirt, was recently photographed using one of the Bell helicopters that carry the President’s official seal during a stopover in Cebu. The photographs circulating online have reportedly drawn the ire of some netizens who observed Aquino’s alleged abuse of government resources for partisan politicking.
The President’s popular sister has earlier been tapped to support the campaign of Liberal Party standard bearer Mar Roxas and his running-mate Leni Robredo to boost their chances in the May 9 elections. Since her campaign debut in Bulacan last Friday (April 15, 2016), Kris has brought some energy to the LP campaign in Samar, Negros Occidental, and Cebu this week.
The President, in his remarks during a campaign sortie in Argao, Cebu, expressed gratitude to his sister for supporting the administration’s campaign. “Siyempre ang laking itinutulong ho sa akin ‘nung ating Ate Kris ano, kaya maraming salamat sa iyo Ate Kris,” Aquino said.
