Nuclear Energy Source? What do you think?

Concerning about the alternative sources of energy in the Philippines:

1. Geothermal energy - Dili dali mangita ug geothermal reservoir sa Pilipinas. Daghan factors mao wala pa naka expand jud ug mga geothermal power plants (soil characteristics, steam chemistry, location, etc.). Ang leyte geothermal reserve 50-100 years from now mahurot or ma almost inactive na... unless naay bag-ong technology nga maka replenish sa spent geothermal steam.

2. Solar power - Sa karon, limited pa ang solar collection efficiency sa mga panels. Pwede rani pang "tawid gutom" ang solar power pero IMBA compared sa coal fired power plants.

3. Hydroelectric- Dili pod kaayo kasaligan kay "weather dependent" kaayo (El Niño, La Niña, Typhoons, etc...) nya very rare makakita ug mga lugar nga efficient for power generation.


Sa karon, dependent jud ta sa mga fossil fuel power plants. Sakto pod ka nga bro nga naay oil cartel nag control sa government...

Just imagine, sa WESM (Wholesale Electricity Market)... mas barato pa ug presyo ang kuryente sa coal fired power plants compared sa geothermal energy... ang coal fired kay nag range ug 2-4 pesos per kwhr while ang mga alternative sources kay 4-7 pesos.

I encourage everyone to visit WESM... para ma appreciate natong tanan ang prices sa electicity.

we are a nation of idiots but i believe we are capable of choosing the right leaders (or become one) this time around.

geothermal is not a stable source (not to mention dangerous) and is costly both in implementation and maintenance and ROI is too long. i think this was already ruled out sa atong government. that is why there is little to no support in this sector. biofuels, on the side note, is supposed to take flight however our land produce is nowhere near that of brazil to sustain our consumption.

the problem with solar panels is not the collection efficiency rather the current bottleneck is the storage. until those efficient batteries are sold commercially, we can all live off the grid. net-metering is cool but yeah, "storage".

i hope we choose the right leader. actually government is actively exploring geothermal spots around the country through DOE.

Once the country is secure enough (from terrorists) and better laws can be enacted and executed for our energy sector then yes, Nuclear energy would be a welcome sight.

But we can never expand energy production (especially if clean) without outside help.
So I would suggest to open this up for external investors and in a sense, less corruption from local owners/politics.
