you dont actually need to have it language or technology specific to come up with an algorithm for that algorithms are algorithms.

id assume you represented your board as an array or list? then you can manipulate it using array handling accessing it thru its index.

im a game programmer myself, but when i teach its not platform or language specific para dli ma dependent mga taw like what you are experiencing now.

I agree with cebugdev, you need to have a proper algorithm to make it work.
