It would be better if we gave ourselves more credit to improve our self esteem as a nation.Originally Posted by Serene
That way, we don't easily overreact to such nonsense shows that obviously just needed the publicity it is currently getting from the media and the stupid masses.
Aside from our currently growing economy (something i salute GMA for) consider these:
This country has a high literacy rate, thats why call centers are migrating here.
This country is one of the best sources of doctors and nurses anywhere in the world.
There are LESS Filipinas, taking off their clothes on the internet compared to other countries.
(cmon, give em more credit guys, compared sa states or sa japan? legal nga porn don eh!)
I think one problem is because politicians take advantage of the masses with their celebrity and hyped up propagandas, but this happens everywhere else in the world.
I think the main problem is we lack unity. Let us be united in something that gets us somewhere. Shut up all the complaints and badmouthing and lets focus on a general progress (that means increasing the purchasing power of the peso internationally). That way, we can be proud that we made a difference for this country (like those nurses, domestic helpers and even foreigner-marrying Filipinas, who add in to our pool of foreign currencies)
The show actually pissed a lot of filipino's and philippine-loving foreigners off, but if we believe we are better than what the show said we are, then why care? Some might even see it as a challenge and improve themselves more.
enough.
This is my personal response ...

Actually, i dont care with this issue at all.Ang ako lang : that's what they think about us. Why can't we accept it? That simple...
If anyone would read my reply in another thread...i was more shocked that we really care about this issue that the insult itself. I mean, there are more important issues that we should put our attention to...corruption, smuggling, murder...etc. That's why i consider this much attention very pathetic.
And i disagree with spoil when he said that we have high literacy rate. From Macapagal's time, there is actually a dramatic decline in our literacy. Our number one school based on Asian survey is UP Diliman and it only ranks 75th in Asia. More people keeps failing in IELTS every year...
What im trying to say is...we should move on and get over ourselves. Dili ni importante!
