yeah u can go cheaper w/ b150 boards BUT most b150 boards i've seen have only ram speeds up to 2133mhz.. there's an asus b150 board where u can use ddr3 ram, but the other boards like MSI and gigabyte have ram speeds at 2133, is it only 170 boards (socket 1151) where ram can go higher speeds??
AND WHAT IF?.. u go w/ an x99 board, cheapest proc is prob i7 5820k (6 cores 12 threads priced at around 400USD), +8 slots ddr4 ram, asrock x99m extreme 4 has only 4 ram slots but cheapest among the boards priced at 220USD.. x99 boards are serious, not necessarily meant for gaming but for heavy workload like rendering w/c is the main point of this pc, an x99 setup might be pricier BUT what if the price difference is not that big... just another food for thought..
