Pls. help, mga experts....

At present I have an 40" LED TV (Samsung) and a Media Player (Minix Brand).... I am in search of a Home Theater (at least 1,000 rms) and found an LG Home Theater (DH6340P) within my budget...

At the back of my TV, there are 2 HDMI ports, while on my Media Player, there is one HDMI port.... without the Home Theater, I just connect both thru an HDMI cable...

Please be patient with me since I an new to this....

Now, if I would have the Home Theater, the DVD player has an HDMI port, an optical port and the usual rja ports... now if I connect the Media Player to the Led TV thru HDMI (which I believe has digital output, both video and audio), then how would I use the Home Theater as an audio source in this set up?

1. Can I have an optical cable connected between my Media Player (Minix has an optical port) and the DVD player (thru the optical port) of the Home Theater, so that the audio would be digital and not just analogue?

2. Since my Media Player has a 3.5 jack, if I use that would the audio be inferior that using the optical port?

3. Is there any setting that I should do so that there would be not conflict between the HDMI port and Optical port in my Media Player, since HDMI connected to the TV already includes the audio output? Hence the Optical port may not actually function?

As stated, I am a newbie at this... TIA

^^ pwde rana ma set ang audio output sa imo Minix to spdif passthrough para iya output optical padung sa imo receiver, kana kung capable mo decode imo receiver og digital(DTS, dolby) or kung imo receiver capable og hdmi(in/out) aw di na needed imo optical. hdmi cable nalang from minix to receiver then receiver to your tv

Bro @Pussifier, usa ra ka hdmi ang naa sa lg dvd receiver unya output sya... so akong multi media player nga minix should be direct to tv thru hdmi, right? Unya for the sound source thru optical out sa akong minix to optical in sa akong lg dvd receiver. Sako ako setup sir? Kining optical audio ba mas maayo ba jud sya kaysa rja ports? Digital output nang optical while analog ang rja or 3.5 jack?

^^ mao ni ako suggest

- video nimo hdmi direct from minix to tv
- audio nimo minix to receiver gamiti spdif toslink
- e set sa sound settings sa imo minix to spdif. If imo na e set to passthrough, raw signal na iya ilabay sa padung sa imo receiver nya imo receiver mo decode. Pwde rasad e set nimo to spdif lang para PCM signal ilabay. testingi lang asa imo gnhan. ako settings gud depende sa ako e play na file kung multichannel ang audio ako na e set sa passthrough kay mas reliable man ako receiver. Testingi lang brod kay same ta og setup, Minix sd ako player

try sd paminaw sa audio sa imo tv kay sa ako side kung ako na e set spdif sa minix naa ghapon sound mugawas sa hdmi. mka mix-up nuon sa sound. kung mahitabo na sa imo pwde ra nimo e mute ang tv hehe.
