To be honest, I've been impressed with Bongbong every time he appeared on TV to deliver his speech on national issues. First time was during the Renato Corona impeachment hearing and then followed the RH Bill, the Mamasapano case and BBL. He was just spot on, eloquent and "statesmanly". I think if I have a chance to sit down and talk with him, I'd find myself sharing the same views and positions on many issues. Come to think of it, take his mom out of the picture and I'd vote for him in a heartbeat.

Personality-wise, based on letters and diaries, people say Ferdinand Sr. wasn't that bad, as compared say to the Aquinos. In fact, my mom and dad voted for him in every election, including the snap elections. His mom, Imelda, is another story. Just ask the Beatles and those who were driven to exile for writing books about her unfavorably. As far as FM's performance is concerned, if infrastructure spending is the only gauge to go by, then he's among the most accomplished along with former president GMA. But his government's fiscal management was abysmal. We were on the brink of bankruptcy while his family and his allies rolled around in filthy riches. Read LKY's "From Third World to First" book. If we are to judge performance, all things considered and all things being equal, I think GMA did better in her 10 years...despite not operating in a dictatorship. Fact is we were in an economic mess right after Marcos left....not a First World country as revisionists claim....and certainly not on our way to become the next Singapore.
