Pirmero nako nga reaction when I heard it on the news, na insulto gyud. But I think people shouldn't take the whole thing seriously. Wala tingali laing mahuna huna-an ang writer. I totally agree about the dialogue being lame. The intended humor (if it was intended to be funny) just didn't work.

watched the episode online and like most Filipinos, i find the comment Teri Hatcher made to be lame and not at all funny... but then again, that's just me...

it's an offhand comment made by a fictional character on a fictional show...
you must admit, even we do it on our own shows all the time... Cebuanos (or Visayans in general) are characterized as being "the maid" or "the driver" with a funny accent and less than perfect English-speaking abilities...

Ask yourself this question: how come "inday" (a term of endearment for Cebuanos) has now become the generic name for servants in TV shows?

I myself was quite offended at the comment made by Teri Hatcher's character considering that there are a lot of Filipinos passing their U.S. licensing boards as doctors, nurses, and medical technicians
This type of derogatory remark is not only hurtful and unfounded, (considering the presence of Filipinos and Filipino Americans in the US health care industry...) it also unnecessarily singles out Filipinos as being incompetent...
Of course, considering their desperate need for Filipino health care workers... i don't think this will affect the influx of Filipinos into the land of milk and honey

it was quite offensive at first but then it's really not their fault.... sala na sa mga nag cheat sa mga nag cheat sa exams.... bati na nuon ang reputation sa Philippines tungod nila.. shame on them... CHEATERS!!

Popular primetime TV show Desperate Housewives raised a lot of eyebrows in the Filipino community with the show's September 30 episode in the U.S.



In one scene of the said episode, a doctor confronts Susan Mayer (played by actress Teri Hatcher) with the news about Susan experiencing menopause. During the doctor's explanation, the uptight Susan cuts him short with an apparent racist slur against Filipino medical schools.



The following is an excerpt from the controversial episode:



Dr. Mayfair: "I know for a lot of women, the word ‘menopause' has negative connotations. The heart ageing, brittle bones, loss of sexual desire...."



Susan Mayer: "Before we go any further, can I check those diplomas? ‘Coz I would just like to make sure that they're not from some med school in the Philippines."

the writer was using his/her knowledge about some latest loopholes sa med world..

kung kinahanglan ta mo point ug finger..
katong mga institution na nag mugna sa cheating sa nursing board...

sila ang dapat basolon ug dili ning salida...
kanang salida part rana sa CONSEQUENCE sa GIBUHAT sa mga cheaters..

so ok na... hilom na tang tanan...
