All players have to be natural-born Filipinos. Persons who chose Filipino citizenship by the age of maturity are considered as natural-born citizens.

For local players the requirements are that they must:
Be 21 years old at the day of the draft (previously 23). If under 21, the player must have completed four years of college.

Be a college graduate or four years removed from his high school graduation, if older than 21
Play at least seven games of one conference in the PBA Developmental League.

Filipino-foreigners have the same requirements as locals except they must:
Play at least seven games in each of the two conferences in the PBA Developmental League, unless they are 28 years old or older.

Have documents from the Department of Justice and the Bureau of Immigration and Deportation proving their Filipino citizenship.

Anyone who played for the Philippines men's national basketball team is exempted from the D-League requirement and is automatically eligible for selection. The changes in eligibility rules are in effect starting in the 2015 draft.

Imports – non-Filipino citizens, even those born in the Philippines – do not enter the league via the draft. They are directly signed by teams, and only play in some conferences. Naturalized citizens can only play in the league as imports.

Its not his eligibility that is in question. Di man nato na ma lalis. Its his ability playing basketball.

Yes Pacman knows how to play Basketball kay manuwaay man jud ni siya but do you honestly think he can make it to the league with just his playing abilities and physical tools?

PBA is a professional basketball league for crying out loud. Sa ako lang pud opinion bro ha, I think its a big mockery and a big disrespect sa mga hard working players sa PBA nga ingun.ana lang siya kadali naka duwa sa liga nya head coach pa jud.

Yes I know that its all a marketing stunt, but its taking away the leagues credibility. So if sikat ka and dghan kag kwarta pwede ra jud diay ka maka duwa sa PBA even if you lack the physical tools and ability to play pro ball.

Things like this would never happen in the NBA,Euroleague,Russian Premier League etc.

If you like PAcman playing in the PBA then ok ra pud na. If you like the PBA ok rasad. Its not a bad thing if you're a fan of the PBA.

Several players are working hard everyday just to get a chance to make it into the PBA.

It's a TRAVESTY that Manny took the spot of someone more deserving and, let's be honest, better than him.

Moreover, it just reinforces the notion that the Philippine Basketball Association's practices are the complete opposite of meritocracy - wealth, popularity and connections are far more important than actual ability if you want to advance.

Pacquaio is a great endorser for a KIA, but as a playing coach? wew.

The PBA should change their name to Product endorsement Basketball Association.
Nganu gud tawn gamiton pa ang name sa atong country kung ilang priority is product advertising man diay and not helping the national team.
