either suspicious or not as long as no one can easy access your network and that's SECURITY means.
    Microsoft is out of topic.
Im not sure if you really understand the SSID...
I will give you a hint, you could connect the wireless AP coz it was detected by your wireless adapter right? It was detected coz your SSID was being broadcast. Now this is the most interesting part, what if you didn't broadcast your SSID? does any wireless adapter able to detect it? the answer is big NO.

    How come it becomes suspicious?
    - refer to post #40 , i config our wireless for hidden ssid. Only the ssid is hidden but it still broadcast other infos.
Now all the other wireless networks have ssid's. Would it not raise suspicion/interest on someone who can scan the network and see a particular network with hidden ssid. Why hide if there is nothing to hide?

Your computer built-in wireless adapter may not be able to detect it. But there are wireless adapters that can be put on "monitor mode". To name one, the Alfa's has monitor mode. I now got Ubiquiti's though.
You just need the right tools to go with that.

The below may answer your question even if your ap is not broadcasting its (hidden) ssid.
The point of my previous post about my computer looking for its network is exactly that. Even if you have a hidden ssid, your client computers will be sending request probe and your network ssid is included in that and the AP responses also includes that.
Now deauthenticate a client computer and it will call its daddy (the AP) by its name.
When a son comes calling for its daddy in a crowded area like a mall, its daddy has to shout its name too.
