All these kay unharnessed ang powers sa mayor ato nga time. Kay lagi Martial Law, and Martial Law at that time according to the Constitution prepared, drafted, revised and approved by Marcos has the ultimate rule over all branches of the government even over the Philippine Military of the government. All under the slight of Marcos hand.

I tell you those were not propaganda, because it really did happened. Ang mayor adto nga time sa among lungsod, all powerful kay lage under ni Marcos. Even decision sa court i overturn sa meager PC, Philippine Constabulary. Kay kuno lage Martial Law and the courts does not have power over anything. All these because of Marcos Constitution.

Maayo gani karon nga constitution gi curtail na ang power sa President. Dili na ingon ana kataas ang power sa President. The revolt against that reign of that president happened long before the EDSA revolution. The EDSA revolution was just the finale of all those years Martial. Sa mga probensya ato nag sige na ug rebelde ang mga tawo kay lage ang mga ballota ilogon para padag-on ang so called presidente.

It was ill-gotten wealth for a reason.

    Diri na nag sugod bro.

Roxas v. Marcos :: 1998 :: Supreme Court of Hawaii Decisions :: Hawaii Case Law :: Hawaii Law :: U.S. Law :: Justia

That is a case lodged against the Marcoses. In this case Bongbong Marcos was even implicated as one of the culprits.
It's along read, but it's worth it.

Try also reading the case against Marcos father vs another Mayor Nalundasan.

    G.R. No. L-47388

This is how clever these people are. Ang resulta ani wala gyuy nahimo ang justice department kay gipatuyok ra ang balaud sa ilang mga kamot.

sorry to hear your family's rough experience during those times,, maayo sad nang naa juy mosuulti diri ana ba personal experience,, dili kay sa TV lng ta pirmi mkakita,, and salamat sa link,, will take time to read it,,

After I have read some of the posts here, I will still vote for BBM.

    Just my thoughts:

Martial law - I was still a baby so nothing I can say but I've read why you NEED to declare one.
Projects - I can see lots of projects named after SR. (though I hate epals fortunately in this case, it was helpful since now I know they were built in his time) unfortunately, not a praise in the history books.
Dollar vs peso - I have no idea, I heard lots of hearsays, praises, etc. Who cares? As long as I can survive my family. JPY is cents yet .. nuff said.
Treasure, ill-gotten wealth - It is in the open, lawsuits, claims are flying... they are working on it. Whether they are true or not, (but I do think there's something going on there) I think the Philippine government is the owner, question is ... are you willing to give them in the current state of the government now (you'll just give them for others to steal?). Who can you trust?
Playing with law/justice - Whether the Marcoses have done wrong or not, any defendant will do anything to acquit himself. That's the nature and there's nothing we can do about it.
Killing Ninoy - Logic tells me, martial law is on therefore the country is in chaos. I'm not saying Marcos killed or not killed Ninoy but there are just too many factors you need to consider there. Going further with only suspicions & hearsays is showbiz.
People power - If you are hurt, you have the right to say it. Unfortunately, it is abused and it compromised respect & democracy.
Anything else? - Let me know and I'll throw my 1 peso worth of thoughts.

Yet all of the above does not affect my vote for BBM, in fact irrelevant. I am hiring him as VP based on what I saw and heard from him. His platforms, his works, his recent arguments, his thoughts even his own family background, his personal taste, etc. If you don't have any slightest idea about him then don't bash just for the sake of it, martial law, his father, etc. I suggest you read, open your mind and think about it.

    ONE MORE:
False school credentials - Irrelevant to me. I will hire anyone that can do his job.

Bongbong impressed me with his speech during that BBL issue. If there was a contest for statesmanship for all the Presidential and VP candidates, I think he'll top that one.

The monkey wrench for me is the tension he might create if he chooses to pursue his personal interest: i.e. cleaning up his family's name. If and when he buries his father at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, I can already foresee massive protests. He might also want to re-write the Civics textbooks so that instead of villifying Martial Law, it would be extolling the its overall good. That too will incur mass protests. He might also want to re-write history books, so that instead of Ninoy being the hero, we'll have Ninoy the traitor. After all, It doesn't make sense to have both Marcos and Ninoy as heroes; one must be the fall guy. Overall, I foresee turmoil and major divisiveness in a Marcos presidency, and it won't be good for our country.

Anyone who claims that Philippines during the Marcos era was our "Golden Age" should answer this question: HOW do you explain the mass outrage and mass resignations/defections that led to EDSA in 1986? Is it...
    a) We were a First World country but the Catholic Church brainwashed the entire country
    b) We were going to be the next Singapore but people got fooled by the Aquinos
    b) Marcos ruled for 20 years, run our deficits to the brink of bankruptcy, his family and friends helping themselves in what they call "kleptocracy", and things got worse and worse

Come on, now. You can't trust sources from an era where there was no press freedom. Just read what Lee Kuan Yew had to say to get a sense of what Marcos was:

"Marcos and I agreed to implement a bilateral Philippines-Singapore… to promote intra-ASEAN trade…I was to discover that for him, the communiqué was the accomplishment itself; its implementation was secondary, an extra to be discussed at another conference." ---GREAT LEADER, no?

"He once took me on a tour of his library at Malacañang, its shelves filled with bound volumes of newspapers reporting his activities over the years since he first stood for elections. There were encyclopedia-size volumes on the history and culture of the Philippines with his name as the author. His campaign medals as an anti-Japanese guerrilla leader were displayed in glass cupboards. He was the undisputed boss of all Filipinos. Imelda had a penchant for luxury and opulence. When they visited Singapore…they came in style in two DC8’s, his and hers." ---WOW, I BET HE BOUGHT THOSE WITH GOLD BARS WHEN HE WAS A SMASHINGLY SUCCESSFUL GOLD PROSPECTOR!

"Marcos, ruling under martial law, had detained opposition leader Benigno (Ninoy) Aquino, reputed to be as charismatic and powerful a campaigner as he was. He freed Aquino and allowed him to go to the USA. As the economic situation in the Philippines deteriorated, Aquino announced his decision to return. Mrs. Marcos issued several veiled warnings. When the plane arrived at Manila Airport from Taipei in August 1983, he was shot as he descended from the aircraft..."---HMMMMM, VERY SUSPICIOUS.

"International outrage over the killing resulted in foreign banks stopping all loans to the Philippines, which owed over US$25 billion and could not pay the interest due. This brought Marcos to the crunch. He sent his minister for trade and industry, Bobby Ongpin, to ask me for a loan of US$300-500 million to meet the interest payments. I looked him straight in the eye and said, “We will never see that money back.”" ---WE WERE GOING TO BE THE NEXT SINGAPORE INDEED!
