....mao ni bag-ong balita karon sa kampo sa SMB!!!

New SMB team name: Magnolia Beverage Masters!

    Jersey color:
    Blue/White

    Notes from the SMC Presscon:

Siot Tanquincen will officially handle the team.

Larry Fonacier will play some point guard/off guard minutes in tandem with LA Tenorio.

This could be Olsen's final season.

Kung tinoud ni, naa link? I have lots of questions.

1.) Unsa na ang role ni Chot Reyes? Basketball consultant? Team manager? Or SMC will let go of him?
2.) Larry Fonacier at point? Si Jonas Villanueva?
3.) Good news. Why won't Racela retire now?hehe (pun intended). They have Tenorio, Jonas Villanueva and possibly Fonacier to run the point. Daghan na ang PG sa SMB.

    Viva

    @yokam:
lisod jud ang PG kay daghan kaayo available even sa free agents. I came to think there is actually a surplus of PG's, kana si Jonas basin mapareha ni Artadi sa Purefoods limited ang playing time kay naa man lain, but it never means they are less in talent

^^That's why I'm very doubtful and would even criticize about moving Fonacier down to the 1 spot when he's even so comfortable in the 2 or sometimes the 3 spot. Pwede siya back-up ni Hontiveros, Calaguio, and even Danny Seigle but never sa point guard spot, it's not his natural position. Both Tenorio and Jonas Villanueva are better point guards than Fonacier. Racela will be retiring soon so hayag gihapon ang PG sa SMB and both will have ample time playing.

Siguro Fonacier as the third option at point guard behind Tenorio and Villanueva, pwede pa.

Magnolia Masters to carry on SMB winning tradition

    By Nelson Beltran
    Thursday, October 4, 2007

From San Miguel Beermen to Magnolia Beverage Masters.

SMC’s flagship ball club carries a new name in the coming season, hoping to draw younger set of fans and renew its bond with loyal followers as it seeks to keep its winning tradition in the country’s premier pro league.

“We believe that our Magnolia beverages will benefit from the enormous exposure from the PBA just like San Miguel Beer and other SMC premium brands,” said San Miguel Beverages Inc. (SMBI) president Roberto Huang in a simple ceremony held at the SMC Complex in Mandaluyong yesterday.

SMBI general manager for domestic operation Bernie Marquez, team manager Hector Calma, head coach Bethune Tanquingcen and the players also graced the occasion and expressed their excitement over the coming season where they’re billed as among the top favorites for the championship.

I think Fonacier will never play the point positon. Daghan kaau PG ang SMB with Racela, Tenorio and Jonas V. Fonacier, Tugade, Calaguio and Gonzales will fight for their minutes at the #2 and #3 spots, relieving Hontiveros and Seigle respectively. Mu gamay na nuon ni ang playing time ni Racela this season, paving the way for Jonas' development with the team.
