It's data. It's a risky idea...

MiniDV will do. And I heard costumers who were disappointed with DVDCam from Sony...

Those same disappointed consumer customers ended up buying the DCR HC85 a cam that costs Php. 54, 000 more or less and that's in the MiniDV format....

have an old Sony video 8 cam. has Svideo out but ang audio kay RCA(male) plug. pwede ba ni nako ma convert ug VCD sa PC, especially nga RCA pug ang iyang audio? and what video card ako paliton to capture video & audio?
please help..

brototaloy: i also have an old sony video 8 cam. i use rca plugs on both audio and video and jack them into my pinnacle av/dv card to convert my video.

with the pinnacle av/dv card you can also convert vhs to vcd or dvd.

pnoize2k4:bai,mahal man kaau ang pinnacle noh? mura 10k man guro na para maka capture ka using rca.ok ba ang software sa pinnacle? sa ako k mag sige ug hang nya usahay d mo trabaho.hinuon pirated man sad.shhhh!!!

FIREWIRE I WAS TOLD BY THE SONY SALESMAN ,,, THATS RUBBISH !!!!!!!! I HAVE A SONY MINI DV ,I HAD PROBLEMS COPYIN IT TO DISC AT FIRST WITHOUT HAVIN CUT MY VIDEO NTO SEGMENTS, THEN AFTER EXPERMENTIN W, I DID IT !!!! ALL IN A CD EXCEPT , IT WAS N A DIFF FORMAT, SO WAT I DID ,I WENT TO THE SITE "PHAZE DLL.COM & DOWNLOAD FREE A VIDEO CONVERTER WHICH CONVERTED MY CD TO VCD FORMAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! TRY IT!!!!!!

I have a sony miniDV video cam. It has both firewire and USB. I'm converting my minDV tapes to VCD using USB. You would probably need to check the settings on the video cam to set the USB to streaming mode. That way you'll be able to transfer the contents of the tape. If its set to a different mode, it will just copy the contents of the memory stick to the computer.

This probably would be the same settings on canon or other brands. Not to sure here.

I haven't tested the firewire yet on my cam. I'm still planning to buy firewire card.

I've used windows movie maker from XP without problems.
