You are actually right bro on your analysis. In short, Ps/hp is for top speed while torque is for acceleration. So what matters in an urban area or in Cebu is acceleration. I think there's not a place in our province where you can access the top speed of your vehicle.
Speaking of acceleration. When you look at the spec sheets, peak torque starts at 1800rpm for the mux, 2000 for montero non vgt and 1600 for the fortuner all with almost the same torque. Imagine, at 1600rpm the fortuner is already accelerating fast, while the two has to go to a higher rpm just to accelerate faster. But of course, the 2.5VGT and 3.0VNT are better.
Montero non vgt is actually not slow or underpowered, it's just that the engine is anemic below 2000rpm. Above that engine speed, its zoom zoom.

i dont know with isuzu why gamay ilang specs HP sa papers pero sa actual driving with passengers, lahi ra... Comparing ni with 2002 Xwind with 2007 Innova.. 80hp vs 100hp resp..
Gikatkat namo sa Kishanta, mga 5-6 persons mi.. all i remember, di ko ka 3rd gear sa innova while climbing up but ang Crosswind, OK pa sa 3rd gear.. although paspas gyd ang innova sa patag..
Nabantayan pd nko ang Innova pagsaka namo sa Theotokos shrine, gihubak naman paghapit na abot sa taas on 2nd gear nya duha ra mi ato... so asa naman tong 20hp padulong? Gihubak?
then naay pinoy working at saudi playing with the 4x4 Mux at the Red sands.. Ok ra mn dw.. Other members say na "hindi namn mukhang underpowered", base sa video...
wait lng ta ni @koykoy for his reviews...![]()

Ni.inquire sad mi sa talisay and sa Ayala regarding sa availability sa mu-x, ika-18 daw mi kon magpa.reserve. amo gi.aim was the outback brown 4x2 LS-A..good thing nakauli ko sa among bukid (bohol) and went to Isuzu and naa silay available dayun na unit. Nag.display pman gani sila sa mall. And salamat ni Lord ma.release na next week ang unit.
Ok, here's my short review as far as power is concerned.
This is the test vehicle just this morning:
The route is just our place in Consolacion which is very near Isuzu near Canduman. There are sharp uphills which is perfect for what I want to check (actual route kay I brought my garmin hahaha).
On the 10-12% inclines, there was no sign of being underpowered, only did 1800 rpm (i recon it was still at gear 2) and would want to accelerate. Take note that the max power is still at 3600 rpm. At 2500 rpm, I dont want to step more kay it really has the power. hahaha. We were 3 people in the truck. (total cguro of 250kg)
This was supposed to be a 40w/kg vehicle but I can feel it is more powerful than my existing tucson (JM 2.0 crdi) and the previous JDM Toyota Surf (the 3.0 1Kz engine) whose power to weight is more than 50+ w/kg for both.
So my conclusion: Power is more than enough for an SUV. Turbo lag is negligible (just same sa 2.0 crdi and all the other current diesels).
Now, the most difficult decision:
Aqua blue OR Titanium Silver??![]()
nice broboth colors are nice,
titanium silver
aqua blue
if for me aqua blue kay na pul-an najud ko silver haha, silver amo tanan family car since i was highschool... til now.. haha..
congrats daan bro![]()
Kumusta ang engine noise? Isuzu engines are known for their noisiness apart from being dependable.
@ite, thanks. wa pa jud ko ka decide. hehe. murag 60-40 in favor sa gray but ako wife kay 80-20 in favor sa blue. our existing hyundai tucson is kanang pud bluegreen na color gud but i like the gray unya with matching big 20 rims na naay black highlights nga sagol. 3rd to 5th pa man pud ang waiting line so medyo dugay-dugay pa gyud tang way tulog ani. hahaha
@RACER X: surprisingly, i was looking for that noise but super hilom na gyud sa sulod. much much less noise than d-max and the alterra. kahinumdom na nuon ko during college days, i used to drive isuzu elf and forward pag deliver, and hapit di magdungog sa sulod, esp if mabuslot ang tambutso. haha
ang akong ma fault ra gyud niya kay ang suspension but maybe i was looking for that car-like suspension or kanang mga crossover suv like. although much softer gyud cya kaysa pickups.
