Default Just bought Asus RT N18U, should I stay with the updated firmware from Asus or flash with 3rd party firmware?

I know it void warranty flashing Tomato or DD WRT, but would it be worth the risk? And if so, which should I choose, Tomato or DD WRT?

I don't know your hardware..., but there are things that I can answer:

    - warranty [do it only if you are certain, and would not cry if it breaks]
    - Tomato or DD WRT [is there some missing "NEEDED" feature you NEED to have?, if no, then don't flash]
    - worth the risk [depends, as stated above, I believe flashing it with custom firmware would benefit only if you use features not found on the default firmware found on the original current device]
    - performance [pretty much the same if I may say]

to summarize, flash only if: you are not afraid to brick your device and you need a feature that is not on the current firmware.

side note: if you are OCD and HARDCORE on router stuff..., then I suggest going to "pfsense + (freeNAS +plex)" and making your router a dumb modem ^_^

if your current updated router works good, stick on it and if ur looking for any features not found in your router better try pfsense rather than compromising your new bought router.
