Corruption: Starting a Business in Mactan

Hi Istoryans,

I've been planning to start a business in Mactan. However, I've heard a couple of stories from businessmen about the massive corruption and bribery from government agencies there, making it really hard to start a business. Is this true? And if it is, why is corruption so prevalent in our country, and why hasn't our businessmen tried to expose such practices.

If naa mo experiences ani, maybe you guys can share?

I hope all cebuanos will help each other in solving this long-time problem...cuz if you analyzed it this corruption in the govt. have gone into bigger crimes from vote buying goes down to narco-politics...dali ra makasulod ang mga druglords, sexx syndicates, & illegal businessmen sa area basta corrupt ang mga officials sa govt.,then mangawas dayon ng mga hired killers....mao nay nahitabo sa atong nasud...so it all started from corrupt elected govt. officials.

How sad.. Imbis na mag encourage ang officials to have more businesses (honest businessmen - para quality pud ang products), maka discourage naman nuon tungod ana ila ginabuhat. Dili ba sila ganahan na mu-welcome sa mga potential new business, nga mao mana ang maka boost sa economy sa ila nasud. Ang epekto ani kay mga dishonest businessmen ra nuon ang makatukod sa ila nasud. Tsk tsk.. Murag ato problem kay kulangan ta sa "love for country". Basta ma dato lang. Bahala nga luoy ang mga citizens.
