Good Start-Up Investment For 30k, Any Ideas?

Greetings!

I am looking for other ideas to grow my money regardless of how long it will take for it to grow into something to branch out unto other larger endeavors.

My ideas so far plays mostly on my passion i.e. buying a new DSLR body for upgrade or having a fish pond project, but this two is both risky and not-so-good for income generating or growth and generally needs to invest time, a very valuable but minute resource since I am still working on an 8hour clerical work.

I also have interest in buying and selling of property but I don't have the knowledge nor the right resource yet to actually buy one, which puts it as a second priority.

So it boils down to what I have: In my hands is a lump sum of 30k, a product of forced savings since college. My personal (and fixed) assets include a laptop, an old model DSLR camera and an iPad, internet and two mobile phones, one on plan.

The idea of mutual funds and investing tickles me. Risky yes, but in order to know things one must take the leap.
I would like to partner with people who has the same interests as mine and would gladly like to hear from what they had to put on the table.

Which goes back to my question, what can I possibly do with 30k? I would like to hear from you.

Mutual Funds - if willing ka mo-risk, it's actually ok man. Nya ang risk level Boss depends upon the type of MF's you are choosing. And pinaka-importante nga imo dapat huna-hunaon aning MF is that these are managed well by financial professionals.

And since nahan pod ka og fish pond, you might want to check on the Aquaponics thread. It's something like enjoying your fish pond and harvesting veggie produce from it.

Thank you, actually wala jud koi know-how aning mutual funds experience-wise pero I think I understand the concept. As for the fishpond, I am into breeding unique aquarium fishes with a very small but very specific market (in which returns are low but big).
