One way for me to save fuel is by using my BPI-Petron Credit Card...i usually get fuel rebates of P30 for every P1,000 worth of gasoline (3% rebate)

Next question nako. Anyone can answer for everybody's information.

    1. what car parts can affect gas mileage? spark plugs? air filter? muffler? tires? in what way?

thanx in advance sa mga mo-share sa ilang knowledge!

OK, while searching on the web, I found this.

BEST GAS MILEAGE ENHANCERS tip #1, Air filter
Check your owners manual to see how often you should replace the air filter. Replacing a dirty filter allows your car to breathe easier so it will use less gas. This is one of the gas mileage savers no one should ignore, because its cheap and easy. Change this more often if you live in a dusty area, drive by dusty areas a lot, travel on dirt or gravel roads or if you drive off road. Keeping a clean air filter can increase gas mileage up to 10%.

BEST GAS MILEAGE ENHANCERS tip #2, Spark plugs, cap & rotor, ignition wires
When these parts need to be replaced, one or more of your cylinders might not fire properly, so replacing these parts can increase gas mileage significantly. Otherwise wasted gas goes out the exhaust while other cylinders use more because they have to work harder. Replacing and/or checking these parts regularly can save gas, not to mention they can prevent larger problems. When in doubt, change them.
karp>> unsay maayong spark plug gamiton? im planning to change mine to bosch fusion. makatabang ba jud ni cya to improve gas mileage?

BEST GAS MILEAGE ENHANCERS tip #3, Driving habits
We might groan when someone mentions this (I know I do), this really is THE BEST of the gas mileage savers (not to mention your car will live longer). Driving less aggresively can increase gas mileage up to 33%. All you have to do is chnage how you drive:
    * Coast up to a stop instead of going faster and hitting the brakes once you get there. Saving your speed will save your gas mileage, your money, and your brakes.
    * Do 55-60 MPH instead of 65-70 MPH (or higher). The improvement from doing this is well documented and very significant.
    * Accelerate lightly away from stops. This is easier on your transmission AND your wallet.
    * Take a different route to work Stop and go driving uses more gas than highway driving, plus its harder on your car.
    * Avoid idling for long periods. This goes along with replanning your route to work. Don't stop your engine and restart it within one minute, but do avoid idling for longer periods of time, as you are getting zero miles per gallon.
    * Avoid long warmups. Today's cars need only 30-45 seconds of warmup.
    * Combine errands into one trip as much as possible. This reduces wasteful stop and go driving and saves gas mileage. Finding an alternate way to work could do the same, as could leaving earlier in the morning to avoid the extra traffic.
    * Keep your transmission in a higher gear, if you have a manual transmission. Even if you have an automatic transmission, keep it in overdrive as much as possible. Lower gears make your engine rev higher and reduce gas mileage.
    * Keep your gas cap tight all the time when you're not filling up. Gasoline evaporates like water and can escape through a loose gas cap. It wouldn't hurt to change the gas cap once in a while, as gasoline evaporates faster in higher temperatures.
    * Fill up in the evening or early morning. Gas is denser when temperatures are cooler. Remember, gas stations charge you by volume of gasoline, not density. The more gas you can get in one gallon, the better. Filling up in the evening when the air is cooler reduces gasoline evaporation.
    * Go to busier gas stations to fill up. You can be assured the gasoline there is fresher with less chance of contamination.

BEST GAS MILEAGE ENHANCERS tip #4, oxygen sensor

The oxygen sensor sends important information back to your engine's computer. This signal causes the computer to adjust how much fuel the engine gets. When the oxygen sensor needs to be replaced, it sends a false signal to the computer, causing it to give the engine too much gas. Replacing oxygen sensors periodically increases gas mileage, maintains good emissions so the vehicle won't fail inspection, and prevents damage to the costly catalytic converter. The converter runs hotter when too much fuel enters the engine, and can melt internally. A plugged converter will drastically reduce gas mileage and engine performance, and increase emissions.
karp>> how will i know that my oxygen sensor needs to be replaced? anybody wanna share their knowledge?

BEST GAS MILEAGE ENHANCERS tip #5, Gasoline type
Are you using premium fuel when your owners manual says you can use regular? Its your choice, but you could pay less for the same amount of fuel.

Some people use higher fuel grades because they have other problems with their engines, or their engines have been modified. This does not apply to the average car.

BEST GAS MILEAGE ENHANCERS tip #6, Tire air pressure
Gas mileage is also affected by tire air pressure. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration conducted a survey that says about 30% of all vehicles had at least one tire that was at least 8 psi underinflated, and 5% had all four seriously under-inflated. Only 4% of those surveyed checked tire pressure regularly.

Low air pressure damages the outsides of your tire treads and wastes gas to do it because it increases rolling resistance. Check your owners manual and the sidewalls of your tires to see what the air pressure should be. Air pressure is noted for tires that are cold, so the less driving you do before checking your tires, the better. Also, be careful not to overpressurize your tires, the minimum is that the inside of the treads will wear out faster. An overpressurized tire can be deadly if it explodes.

BEST GAS MILEAGE ENHANCERS tip #7, Air conditioning and heater usage
Any belt-driven engine accessory puts a load on the engine, so using them less and keeping them in good working order is one of the things you can do to get the best gas mileage.

A/C. This is the biggest of them all, not using it can increase gas mileage 10-20%. If you can live without it, you are much better off. I do not recommend this, but some people actually remove the entire A/C system from their cars because the A/C system is heavy and removing it does improve gas mileage. We don't recommend that you do this yourself as refrigerants can be hazardous to your health and to the environment.

Vents. Instead of opening your windows on the highway which has the same effect as running your air conditioner, open your vents. This improves aerodynamics which may increase gas mileage.

Heater. This actually works like a second radiator, so it during the winter it can actually overcool the engine, and some cars get better gas mileage when the engines run warmer. Changing the thermostat also keeps the engine at the correct operating temperature. I have even seen truckers cover their radiator grills during the winter to keep their diesel engines from running too cold and to maintain their gas mileage. We can't recommend that you try that with any engine unless you know what you are doing.

Accessory condition. Any accessory with worn bearings will put increased load on the engine, so if you hear any funny noises coming from the drive belts, take it to a car repair shop.

Electrical shortages. This is the same as above, when the battery is run down the alternator has to work harder for longer to recharge it, and that puts more load on the engine.

BEST GAS MILEAGE ENHANCERS tip #8, Vehicle weight
A 100 lb decrease in weight can increase gas mileage as much as 2%. It can also improve your cars handling and braking performance.

BEST GAS MILEAGE ENHANCERS tip #9, Oil cleanliness and viscosity (thickness)
When you change your oil (and you should do it often per your service manual), make sure its the correct viscosity. Check your owners manual. Energy conserving oil that's the right viscosity can increase gas mileage up to 2%.

Using the correct viscosity oil is a good gas mileage enhancers tip

BEST GAS MILEAGE ENHANCERS tip #10, brake repair

Not only will good brake maintenance and repair help get the best gas mileage, it will also improve safety! Dragging brakes, whether the parking brakes are not releasing, a caliper piston is jammed, or a release spring is broken, all take their toll.

Buhata lang gyud kay diha pud ko nag sugod ug improve sa engine performance, pinubre nga effective.

    engine flushing solution:
    500ml kerosene
    240ml to 250ml acetone

Before you drain your old engine oil, ipa fast idle una ang makina with the flushing solution mixed with the old engine oil for 15 to 30minutes. It will help remove unwanted carbon deposits.

Ang next maayong buhaton ani ang mag engine oil treatment like mogamit ug NOW12 engine oil enhancer which from experience will help your engine clean for long term and to maintain better performance until angay na mag change ug engine oil.

Pwede ra ang flushing oil solution nga imong gamiton is only half sa mahimo nimo nga mixture. You can do the same procedure with the remaining solution the next time pa change oil ka or when it is necessary.
